Centuries ago, five African tribes fought over a meteorite containing the powerful metal known as Vibranium. A warrior consumed a heart-shaped herb infused with this metal, gaining extraordinary abilities and becoming the first Black Panther, unifying most tribes to establish the nation of Wakanda.

While most tribes united under a single banner, the Jabari Tribe chose a different path. They opted to reside in the mountains, distancing themselves from the advancements and the politics of Wakanda.

In 1992, King T'Chaka travels to Oakland, California, to confront his brother N'Jobu, who is suspected of collaborating with the arms dealer Ulysses Klaue. T'Chaka's fears are validated when Zuri reveals himself as an undercover agent, leading to N'Jobu's return to Wakanda.

In present-day Wakanda, T'Challa mourns his father's death and prepares for his ascension to the throne. Alongside Okoye, he rescues Nakia from an undercover mission to ensure she is present at his coronation.

During the coronation ceremony, M'Baku from the Jabari Tribe challenges T'Challa for the throne in a traditional ritual fight. T'Challa wins the battle, showing mercy towards M'Baku and persuading him to relinquish his claim to the throne instead of facing death.

That evening, T'Challa ingests the heart-shaped herb, gaining enhanced powers of the Black Panther. While in the Astral plane, he has a deeply impactful encounter with his father's spirit, which guides him on his forthcoming journey.

Nakia and T'Challa learn of a plot involving Klaue and Erik Stevens, N'Jobu's son, who are attempting to steal a Wakandan artifact from a museum in London. Their actions highlight Erik's desire to disrupt Wakanda's secretive standing.

T'Challa, Okoye, and Nakia confront Klaue at an underground casino in Busan, South Korea. After a chaotic firefight ensues, T'Challa captures Klaue but must reluctantly hand him over to CIA agent Everett K. Ross for custody.

The situation escalates when Erik arrives to rescue Klaue, revealing himself to be of royal blood and a legitimate contender for the throne. This revelation sets the stage for an intense power struggle between him and T'Challa.

After defeating T'Challa and claiming the throne, Erik initiates plans to distribute Wakanda's advanced technology to the world. T'Challa, revived by Nakia's herb, rallies allies and confronts Erik in a fierce battle for the fate of Wakanda.

In a fateful duel within the Vibranium mine, T'Challa and Erik engage in a fierce battle. T'Challa disrupts Erik's suit, leading to a confrontation that highlights their differing ideologies and desires for Wakanda’s future.

After a hard-fought battle, Erik chooses death over imprisonment, reflecting his desire for freedom. His demise sets the stage for T'Challa to reshape Wakanda's future.

Embracing a new vision for Wakanda, T'Challa establishes an outreach center in the location where N'Jobu fell, focusing on helping those in need. This act symbolizes a commitment to global responsibility.

In a pivotal mid-credits scene, T'Challa presents Wakanda's true purpose to the United Nations, revealing its advanced capabilities and asserting its role on the global stage. This moment marks a transformative turn for the isolated nation.

In the post-credits, Shuri is seen aiding Bucky Barnes in his recovery. This moment hints at future alliances and deeper connections that Wakanda will forge with other nations and individuals.
