Black Mask 2: City of Masks

Iguana chose to let go despite Black Mask's attempt to rescue him. During the chase to the tower, Iguana declared he was not a monster, indicating he wanted to be seen as human rather than as a transformed hybrid. Rather than be captured or continue living as a creature created through Dr. Moloch's genetic experiments, he intentionally slipped from Black Mask's grip and fell. His form reverted to human upon death, confirming he had been transformed against his will.

Earlier at the wrestling event, Iguana's violent attack on Ross showed the wrestlers had been changed by the DNA injections and wanted revenge on those who created them.

Chameleon was injected with animal DNA by Dr. Moloch, which gave her the ability to blend into her surroundings. However, the invisibility came at a terrible cost, she had to remain completely naked to be fully invisible, and her body was slowly losing control of the transformation. By the end of the film, her upper body began flickering between visible and invisible states, and she explained that she would eventually disappear entirely if she could not maintain control.

After Iguana's death, Chameleon was shown watching silently from the shadows, establishing her stealth capabilities before the full extent of her powers was revealed.

The DNA bomb was a citywide weapon capable of altering the genetic structure of everyone in the city. Lang incapacitated Dr. Moloch and planted the bomb with the intention of triggering it to rewrite the city's population's DNA, essentially mutating the entire civilian population. Black Mask ultimately overpowered Lang and detonated the bomb himself to prevent the catastrophic genetic overhaul.

Dr. Moloch's experiments on the wrestlers demonstrated his ability to inject animal DNA into humans, establishing that he possessed the technology to cause mass genetic mutation.

During a confrontation at the wrestling arena, Dr. Moloch personally injected Black Mask with animal DNA, transforming him into a tiger-hybrid. This was likely an attempt to either neutralize him as a threat or add him to Moloch's collection of enhanced fighters. The tiger DNA granted Black Mask enhanced physical abilities, which he used to fend off his stalker Chameleon, but it also threatened to permanently change him into a hybrid creature.

Dr. Marco Leung identified a chemical component that could counteract the tiger DNA injected into Black Mask's system. Black Mask secretly retrieved this chemical during a confrontation with the wrestlers, then took the cure at Dr. Leung's lab. The cure purged the tiger DNA from his body, though the process triggered a violent reaction that left him dazed and wandering the city. The ending reveals the cure was successful when Dr. Leung receives a call from Kan Fung and rides away with him on his motorcycle.

From the beginning, Black Mask had been seeking a geneticist who could cure him of his original superhuman abilities granted by the organization.

Chameleon pushed Thorn off the support beam as a final act of defiance against her impending disappearance. Recalling how Iguana had chosen death over being controlled, and realizing she was losing control of her own body with her invisibility fading, she refused to simply vanish. She briefly reappeared in bronze as she fell, Vowing she would not disappear, she chose to take Thorn with her rather than let him survive while she perished.

Earlier, Chameleon had told Black Mask that Iguana's death was not accidental, he had chosen to let go, which foreshadowed her own choice to embrace death on her own terms.

Wolf was accidentally killed by Thorn during the climactic arena battle. In the darkness of the fight, Thorn mistook Wolf for Black Mask and delivered a fatal blow, killing his own teammate. This betrayal among the mutated wrestlers highlighted how the chaos and violence had turned them against each other.

Chameleon's invisibility power requires her to be completely without clothing to stay fully blended into her surroundings. Any clothing would be visible and reveal her position to enemies. This necessity, combined with her slowly failing control over the transformation, makes her appearance increasingly unsettling as the film progresses, emphasizing the tragic cost of Dr. Moloch's genetic experiments.

Dr. Moloch injected the wrestlers with animal DNA to enhance their fighting abilities beyond normal human limits. He wanted to create powerful hybrid fighters for his organization, using the wrestling venue as a cover. The experiments turned ordinary athletes into animal-hybrid creatures, Snake, Wolf, Iguana, Chameleon, and Claw, who could morph into their respective animal forms. Their thirst for vengeance drove them to track down both Black Mask and those responsible for their transformations.

Black Mask befriends Raymond, the young son of Ross (who was attacked by Iguana at the wrestling event), to build a fragile human connection that could prove crucial if a cure is ever found. Raymond looks up to both his father and Black Mask, representing the innocent lives Black Mask is trying to protect. This relationship also gives Black Mask a personal stake in stopping the genetic threat beyond his own survival.

Lang was a high-ranking member of the organization that originally granted Kan Fung his superhuman abilities. After Kan escaped and began using his powers for good as Black Mask, the organization viewed him as a rogue asset and hired Lang to find and eliminate him. This set up the central cat-and-mouse dynamic between two powerfully enhanced individuals with conflicting missions.

Black Mask 2: City of Masks features the same protagonist, Kan Fung (Black Mask), and continues his story. The first film established that Kan escaped an organization that gave him superhuman abilities and wanted to use his powers for good. Black Mask 2 picks up with Kan seeking a cure for his abilities while being hunted by his former organization, though the plot functions as a standalone sequel.
