Bingo Hell

A man named Mario arrives home, freshly having sold his bingo hall. In a seemingly trance-like state, he sways to the classic Spanish melodies emanating from the vinyl player. Engaging in a dialogue with himself, he recalls his late wife, Patricia, mentioning his vow to leave “this place.” He sets down a suitcase brimming with cash and, in a bizarre act of greed, begins devouring a serving tray filled with bingo balls. An ominous voice urges him on until his gluttony culminates in his choking to death.

Meanwhile, an elderly woman named Lupita takes a morning stroll through Oak Springs where she crosses paths with her friend Clarence, the owner of a local auto repair shop. Afterward, Lupita visits her hairdresser, Yolanda, who is dealing with an electricity issue addressed by Morris. Unfortunately, Morris, lacking the appropriate tools, is unable to resolve the problem and departs.

The scene then shifts to Dolores, who is upset with her daughter-in-law, Raquel, for failing to control her misbehaving grandson who has been breaking into cars without consequence. Dolores’s frustration is compounded by her disdain for Raquel’s laziness after moving in following her husband’s death.

Later, Dolores meets with Lupita at Yolanda’s, where the two women engage in a heartfelt conversation about Caleb. Lupita makes a comparison between Caleb and Dolores’s late son, which leads to an awkward pause, followed by Lupita’s hesitant apology, and a reluctant acceptance from Dolores. Afterward, Lupita attends a bingo game at the local hall, only to discover it has closed due to Mario’s unpaid electricity bills.

The following day, Lupita and her friends notice flyers announcing the bingo hall’s new management. Intrigued, they investigate, only to find the bingo hall has been transformed into a casino. During this visit, Dolores witnesses Raquel striking it lucky, winning ten thousand dollars from the casino owner, Mr. Big.

The next morning, Caleb and Dolores discover that Raquel has left them her winnings. Raquel, at a motel, becomes increasingly unhinged as she rips at her dress, only for the sinister Mr. Big to project hallucinations that lead to her mutilating herself. Meanwhile, Lupita breaks into Mario’s former residence, where she believes she sees his corpse, only to realize it was a hallucination.

Back at the bingo hall, Clarence strikes it rich, winning a staggering one hundred thousand dollars. That same evening, Clarence celebrates alone next to his car, oblivious to the fact that he is drinking motor oil instead of beer. In a tragic twist, he plunges his arm into a car’s motor, resulting in a violent demise, not noticing Mr. Big lurking in the vehicle’s shadows.

When Lupita uncovers Clarence’s lifeless body, she sees Morris in conversation with Mr. Big, who marks his hand, leading to disintegration. Understanding that the entire Oak Springs community has been ensnared by Mr. Big’s machinations at the bingo hall, Lupita, along with Eric and her shotgun, rushes to save them. Caleb attempts to break in, blaming the hall for his mother’s disappearance, only to be intercepted by Eric, who ultimately meets a grisly fate at the hands of Mr. Big.

In a desperate bid to save the residents, Lupita struggles against Mr. Big, who ruthlessly begins to crush her skull. In a crucial moment, Caleb bravely shoots Mr. Big in the back. Lupita shatters the television, rallying the residents to turn on Mr. Big, culminating in a brutal assault that concludes with Lupita using her shotgun to crush the villain’s skull. In a final act of defiance, Caleb ignites the money, allowing them to escape as the casino burns, leaving Mr. Big to face his fiery end.
