Patrick keeps working at his late father's lumberjacking business while drowning in loans for his ambitious, debt-heavy trailblazing ideas. He shares a strong bond with his brother Liam as they navigate the family enterprise and Patrick's ambitions collide with money trouble.

Patrick continues his childhood habit of carving animal sculptures from wood. The hobby serves as a distraction from financial strain and the looming pressure of his business ventures.

Pat grows anxious that someone is lurking in their backyard while the old Bagman folklore haunts the brothers. The fear embeds itself in their daily life as they try to keep Jake safe.

Jake disappears into the woods behind the house and is miraculously found by Pat's wife, Karina, returning home unharmed. The scare deepens the sense of danger surrounding their family and the Bagman's legend.

After the incident, Jake begins hinting at an invisible friend named Dolly who seems to be present at the nursery windows and the bathroom. The presence adds a supernatural layer to the events surrounding Jake's safety.

The family experiences a break-in, and Pat discovers a demonic entity hanging from the kitchen ceiling while it plays Jake's flute. The unsettling sight confirms a malevolent force at work in their home.

The police are called to investigate the break-in but fail to find anything substantial or explain the strange phenomena. The lack of evidence fuels Pat's growing anxiety about protecting his family.

In a flashback, Pat's father recounts the Bagman’s lair as the mine behind the family's wood workshop. The story explains how the demon targets bright kids and traverses the area at night.

Pat's psychologist explains that the Bagman feeds on a child's anxieties and vulnerabilities. She urges Pat to confront the underlying fears to prevent the panic from worsening.

A past scene shows Pat as a child, hearing his father say to hold close the things he loves—like a carving knife—to ward off the Bagman. The idea turns a mundane object into a protective totem.

While babysitting Jake, Anna is attacked by the Bagman and suffers temporary facial paralysis and loss of speech. She refuses hospitalization, traumatized and fearing to be left alone.

That night the Bagman moves toward Jake’s crib. Pat, watching the baby monitor, races to intervene and follows the Bagman through the factory to the mine shaft where Jake has vanished into a rotting duffel bag.

In the Bagman’s lair, a curtain hides the leather duffel bag. Opening it reveals a porcelain doll with a sound box that emits Jake’s recorded cries, exposing the Bagman’s ruse to lure Pat back to the old place.

The Bagman reveals the carved knife and defeats Pat, who is dragged toward the bag and eventually stuffed inside. Karina arrives with a search team but finds no sign of him, while Jake’s flute is found instead.

Karina's search team arrives too late to locate Pat, but they recover Jake’s flute, suggesting the Bagman has escaped with his plans intact. The film closes on the unresolved threat of the Bagman and Pat’s fate.
