Bagdad Cafe

German tourist Jasmin Münchgstettner has a heated argument with her husband, Hans Stadlbauer. Frustrated and seeking a break, she storms off along a desolate desert highway, marking the beginning of her journey.

At the same time, Brenda, the fiery owner of the Bagdad Cafe, faces her own marital issues. After arguing with her husband, he drives away, leaving Brenda alone to deal with her troubles.

Jasmin arrives at the Bagdad Cafe, pulling her suitcase behind her. She inquires about a room at the adjacent motel and soon settles in amidst the dusty surroundings of the California desert.

As Jasmin acclimates to her new temporary home, she forms strong bonds with Brenda's children. Additionally, she meets Rudi Cox, a washed-up set designer from Tinsel Town who frequents the cafe seeking inspiration.

Unable to tolerate the chaos and dirt of her motel room and the cafe, Jasmin decides to take action. Embodying her German meticulousness, she begins to clean and tidy up the messy surroundings, transforming the space.

In a twist of fate, Rudi suggests that they marry, allowing Jasmin to stay in the country. Surprised yet intrigued by the idea, she embraces his proposal, seeing it as an opportunity to secure her place.
