Back Street Girls: Gokudols

They chose Thailand because seppuku would mean immediate death with no chance of redemption. The alternative, undergoing gender reassignment and becoming idols, offered them a path to survive, prove their loyalty to Inugane, and potentially gain power and respect in a new form. This choice reflects their desperate attempt to find any way to honor their old boss while staying alive.

After undergoing surgery and intensive training in Thailand, the three transformed into Airi, Mari, and Chika. They returned to Japan as the Gokudols and gained popularity by blending their yakuza edge with polished idol performances. Their unique appeal came from being both feared gang members and glamorous pop stars, which attracted public interest and helped them climb the entertainment ladder.

Koizumi, a corrupt promoter, invited the Gokudols to audition for a high-profile J-Pop Summit project. During the audition, he drugged them with the intent of sexually assaulting them. He promised Chika a starring role in his next movie as bait while they were vulnerable. When the trio realized what was happening, they fought back and foiled his plan.

Airi discovered that her ex-girlfriend now has a five-year-old daughter who adores Airi as if she were her real parent. In the mid-credits scene, Airi learns the devastating truth: her ex-girlfriend has married another man, and the daughter is not actually Airi's biological child. This revelation leaves Airi faint and reflective about the costs of her choices.

Koizumi kidnapped Airi's supposed family, Mari's girlfriend, and Chika's boyfriend to force the Gokudols to abandon the Summit. The trio tracked Koizumi's men to their location, delivered a brutal coordinated attack on the rival gang, and rescued Kimura and the other hostages. During the rescue, Chika was shot in the chest by Koizumi.

Inugane arrived at Koizumi's hideout after the rescue was already underway. He shot the remaining guards, convinced the Gokudols to push forward toward the Summit, and used the adrenaline technique to revive Chika. His intervention shifted the tide completely, giving the group the momentum they needed to reach their final performance.

In the post-credits scene, Koizumi, having failed to break the Gokudols, pleads with Inugane and offers to do anything for mercy. Inugane sends him to Thailand for gender reassignment surgery and idol training, exactly what happened to the original three. This twist mirrors their fate, showing Koizumi now trapped in the same system he once used against others.

Mari developed a romantic connection with the nurse who treated her post-surgery complications, including hemorrhoids. This relationship provided Mari with genuine tenderness and emotional support amid the pressures of their new idol career, representing one of the few authentic connections they made after their transformation.

Kentaro, Ryo, and Kazuhiko stormed the rival boss's compound to prove their loyalty to Inugane by eliminating his enemy. They were captured and stunned to discover that Inugane had already reached a fragile truce with that rival. Their reckless raid nearly destroyed the peace deal and forced Inugane to punish them severely.

After their transformation, the trio met with their old boss, who urged them to fully embrace their new identities as both yakuza and idols. He challenged them to build a future where they could be feared and beloved simultaneously. This approval gave them the confidence to publicly lean into their dual personas, visiting shops and meeting fans.

After the Gokudols foiled his assault attempt and beat him up, Koizumi canceled the J-Pop Summit and redirected its funds to charities he controlled. He then launched a smear campaign dismissing the assault allegations as "fake news" and attacking the Gokudols' reputation. This was designed to destroy their bookings and career prospects out of spite.
