Puneet Bajpai [Ajay Devgn], a movie scriptwriter, leads a comfortable life in a high-rise in Goregaon, Mumbai, with his Bengali interior-designer wife Munmun [Konkona Sen Sharma] and their six-year-old son Ayush. Ayush eagerly hopes for a guest to arrive, filling the home with a quiet anticipation that brightens their days.

Everything shifts the moment Lambodar Chacha [Paresh Rawal], a distant uncle of Puneet, appears unannounced one morning and slaps the guard, triggering a chain of dramatic disruptions. Lambodar is searching for a son of his late cousin Putani and, upon finding Puneet, refers to him as Pappu—something Puneet is not accustomed to—and proceeds to take over the couple’s life with a string of unreasonable demands: early-morning gargling, hearty eating, and a loud, comical farr—habits that push the family to the edge. The household remains at odds, though Ayush is oddly delighted by the new, larger-than-life presence.

Lambodar interferes in every aspect of their daily routine, from pressuring the maid to quit her job to incessantly seeking Puneet’s attention, to inviting strangers as “new friends” and constantly calling when Puneet is away. Some neighbors applaud what they interpret as devotional devotion at the local temple, or his odd “cure” for backaches that involves a sharp kick to the sufferer’s rear. In a moment of desperation, Puneet even lets himself get arrested just to finish his script without Lambodar’s meddling.

One day Puneet brings Lambodar to his film set, a grand affair directed by Ranjeet Taneja [Satish Kaushik]. There, Lambodar spots an actor known as Kaalia of Sholay [Viju Khote] and repeatedly urges him to recite his famous dialogue from the old film. The insistence gnaws at Kaalia, who tries to escape the pressure, but Lambodar keeps nudging him. When Kaalia finally speaks the word “two,” the bomb operator blows up the mansion well ahead of schedule, and an enraged Taneja fires Puneet. Puneet defends Lambodar, arguing that his uncle’s devotion deserves respect.

Desperation grows as the couple’s attempts to rid themselves of Lambodar multiply. They stage a fake relative’s death to lure him away, but the ruse backfires when the friend is arrested after Lambodar sees through the ruse. A planned Delhi trip sees Munmun orchestrating Lambodar’s departure with tears, only for Lambodar to jump off the train and return to their flat. A night in a hotel with Ayush ends in a police raid that wrongly labels Puneet as molesting Munmun. They hire a local don to send Lambodar away, but the don instead brings Lambodar home, saving him from a rival gang.

Time passes, and Puneet is ultimately welcomed back to work as Taneja apologizes for underestimating Puneet’s bravery—an act that becomes clear after Puneet defended his Chacha during a tense moment. A fortunate turn of events also sees Puneet reclaim his repossessed car thanks to a tie between Lambodar and a seemingly ordinary man who turns out to be the bank manager. Their child’s schooling improves thanks to the lessons taught by Chachaji, and the family slowly begins to appreciate the value of having elders in the house.

During Ganesh Chaturthi, the immersion at Juhu beach, Lambodar goes missing amid a stampede. Puneet spends the night in a hospital, fearing the worst, and returns home to find Lambodar alive and well. The couple begs for forgiveness as Lambodar seems ready to leave. The twist comes when Putani’s second son arrives—the real Pappu—who apologizes for the confusion and explains that his flat number matched Puneet’s, but in a different tower, prompting Lambodar to stay with him and restoring a sense of finality to the family saga.

Q1

Why does Lambodar keep calling Puneet "Pappu"?

A.

Lambodar is searching for the son of his late cousin Putani. He believes Puneet is this relative, referring to him as Pappu throughout the film. This name confusion is central to the comedy and explains why Lambodar insists on staying with Puneet, believing it is his familial duty to care for his "nephew."

This name mix-up is introduced the moment Lambodar arrives and slaps the guard, immediately calling Puneet 'Pappu' and taking charge of the household.

Q2

What causes the explosion at the film set?

A.

Lambodar persistently pressures Kaalia, the actor from Sholay, to recite his famous dialogue 'two.' When Kaalia finally utters the word under pressure, the bomb operator mistakenly believes it is the cue to detonate the explosives, causing the mansion to explode early and destroying the set.

The tension on set builds as Lambodar continuously nudges Kaalia despite the actor's visible discomfort, foreshadowing the chaotic payoff.

Q3

Why does Puneet defend Lambodar after the explosion?

A.

Despite losing his job because of the incident, Puneet stands up for his uncle because he recognizes that Lambodar's devotion to Bollywood icons was innocent and well-intentioned. This moment marks a turning point where Puneet chooses family loyalty over professional consequences.

The film sets up this loyalty theme earlier when Puneet tolerates Lambodar's increasingly disruptive behavior, showing his underlying respect for elders.

Q4

Why do all their plans to send Lambodar away fail?

A.

Each scheme backfires due to Lambodar's adaptability and the family's own mishaps. The fake relative death leads to the friend's arrest when Lambodar sees through it. The Delhi trip fails because Lambodar jumps off the train and returns. The local don they hire ends up bringing Lambodar back safely. These failures highlight how intertwined the family has become with Lambodar's presence.

Early scenes show Lambodar interfering in every aspect of their life, demonstrating his ability to insert himself into any situation.

Q5

What is the twist at the end of the movie?

A.

Lambodar was looking for the wrong person all along. Puneet's flat number matches that of Putani's actual son, but in a different tower. When Putani's second son arrives as the real Pappu, the confusion is resolved, and Lambodar moves to the correct address to stay with his actual relative.

The film hints at the mix-up early on when Lambodar first arrives asking for someone connected to Puneet's address, though the full revelation comes only at the end.

Q6

Why does the bank manager help Puneet get his repossessed car back?

A.

The bank manager turns out to have a connection to Lambodar. At some point, Lambodar had helped or befriended the manager, creating a bond that leads the manager to resolve the car repossession case in Puneet's favor when he learns of their relationship.

The timeline mentions a tie between Lambodar and a seemingly ordinary man who turns out to be the bank manager, setting up this unexpected resolution.

Q7

Why is Ayush delighted by Lambodar's presence?

A.

Ayush, as a six-year-old, finds Lambodar's larger-than-life personality and unusual habits entertaining rather than annoying. The chaos that unsettles his parents feels like an adventure to the child, and he treats the elder's presence as a game rather than a disruption.

Early in the film, Ayush eagerly hopes for a guest to arrive, showing his desire for excitement in his otherwise routine life.

Q8

What happens during the Ganesh Chaturthi scene?

A.

During the Ganesh Chaturthi immersion at Juhu Beach, Lambodar goes missing in a stampede. Puneet spends a terrifying night in a hospital fearing the worst, only to return home and find Lambodar alive and well. This scare forces the family to confront their feelings and realize they have grown to care for him.

The scene occurs after the family has begun appreciating Lambodar's guidance with Ayush's schooling, building the emotional foundation for this moment of fear and relief.

Q9

Why does Lambodar slap the guard when he first arrives?

A.

The slap establishes Lambodar's bold, assertive personality and his rural mindset where physical assertiveness is normal. It immediately signals to the household, and the audience, that he will not be a typical, quiet guest and sets the tone for his dominating presence in their lives.

This aggressive arrival immediately shatters the family's quiet morning routine, showing that life as they know it has changed.

Q10

What is the significance of Lambodar's loud "farr" in the movie?

A.

The running gag of Lambodar's loud flatulence serves as a recurring comedic element that highlights the clash between his crude rural manners and the refined, modern lifestyle of the city-dwelling couple. It embodies the cultural friction that defines much of the film's humor.

The gag is introduced early when Lambodar imposes his habits on the household, establishing the ongoing comedic conflict.
