From the Village to the City

The brothers chose Ali Rıza because he was a trusted fellow townsman from their village who ran a jewelry shop in Ankara. They believed using someone they knew personally would be the safest way to convert the gold coins into real currency without being cheated or robbed. However, this trust proved misplaced when Ali Rıza became suspicious of more treasure and tried to exploit the situation for his own gain.

The brothers grew paranoid about the gold sack because the sudden wealth created tension and suspicion among them. Each brother feared that one of the others might try to keep the entire treasure for themselves and abandon the rest. This fear of betrayal led them to carry the sack everywhere, even during meals and while sleeping, gradually turning their quest for wealth into a test of loyalty that ultimately failed.

Ali Rıza discovered the treasure location by overhearing Gayret reveal the secret during a hushed exchange at the construction site. Using this information, he moved closer to the hidden treasure while the brothers were busy arguing amongst themselves, allowing him to intercept the prize before they could secure it properly.

The fight erupted because Gayret revealed the treasure's hiding spot, triggering a fierce struggle among everyone who wanted a share of the gold. Old suspicions and grievances exploded into chaos as the brothers turned on each other, and the treasure that had once symbolized hope became the center of a brutal contest rather than a windfall.

By the end of the movie, the gold was completely lost. During the fight at the construction site, the coins scattered throughout the building structure and fell into crevices that made them impossible to retrieve. The brothers ended up poorer than when they started, having lost both their treasure and their unity, and were forced to return to their humble lives working in the fields.

The brothers returned to the village because they had nothing left. After losing the treasure in the chaotic fight and being left with nothing, they had no choice but to go back to their original life of working the fields in Kayseri. The story closes with them toiling under the same sun they started with, having learned that wealth promised by luck is fragile and that greed can destroy unity.

The treasure exchange was delayed because when the brothers arrived in Ankara, the city was celebrating a holiday and Ali Rıza's jewelry shop was closed until the festivities ended. This forced the brothers to wait and survive by doing odd jobs like digging and small tasks, adding to their hardship and extending the period where tension and suspicion could build among them.
