Assassination

Lily Colson, a high school senior, spends time with her close friends Bex, Em, and Sarah Lacey. The group enjoys their youthful camaraderie, balancing relationships and personal struggles as they navigate their last year of high school.

The friends attend a party where Bex connects with her crush, Diamond. Meanwhile, Lily is seen being unfaithful to her boyfriend Mark by texting an anonymous man known as 'Daddy', highlighting the theme of secrets and betrayals among peers.

Marty, a hacker, receives unsettling information about Mayor Bartlett, an anti-gay figure. The hacker reveals compromising images of the mayor, leading Marty to share this explosive content with the public, sparking outrage throughout Salem.

At a press conference intended to address the leaks, Mayor Bartlett takes a drastic turn and publicly commits suicide. His death sends shockwaves through the community, exposing the deep-seated tensions around identity and acceptance.

Following the mayor's incident, Principal Turrell becomes a target for hackers, with images of his young daughter circulated maliciously. He faces controversy at a parent meeting but stands firm, wanting to protect his students despite the allegations.

The town's atmosphere crumbles as a massive data dump exposes private information of half the residents. This leads to chaos, with personal vendettas spiraling out of control as relationships are destroyed and reputations are tarnished.

Grace discovers that her nude pictures have been shared by her best friend Reagan, which triggers a violent confrontation. In a fit of rage, she strikes Reagan with a baseball bat, resulting in severe consequences that heighten the turmoil.

Lily's secret communications with Nick, the neighbor, come to light when his information is leaked. This leads to Lily facing public humiliation and being disowned by her parents, causing her to feel isolated and vulnerable.

The community, now masked and armed, is determined to take revenge against those they believe wronged them. Leading a mob, Nick captures Marty, torturing him for information about Lily, increasing the tension and fear among the townspeople.

The masked mob tracks Lily to Em and Sarah's home. In a desperate attempt to protect her daughters, their mother Nance is tragically killed while Lily and Bex attempt to escape the violent intrusion.

Under the guise of helping, Nick reveals his sinister agenda as he attempts to rape Lily. In a gripping struggle for survival, she manages to fight back and discovers a horrifying sight in the bathroom: Marty's lifeless corpse.

Amidst the chaos, Lily transforms into a determined fighter as she confronts Nick, ultimately using his own weapons against the mob. After an intense battle, she rescues Sarah and Em, showcasing her courage and resilience.

After regrouping, Lily records a video addressing the town, encouraging others to stand up against their tormentors. This act of defiance sparks a movement among the victims, joining forces against the mob rule taking over Salem.

Lily’s younger brother Donny is caught and faces serious charges for his role in the hacking incidents. When questioned by their parents, he nonchalantly responds that he did it 'for the lulz', showing a disturbing disconnect from reality.

The film concludes with a surreal image of Salem's High marching band performing through the ruins of their town. Miley Cyrus' 'We Can't Stop' plays in the background, contrasting the upbeat music with the devastation left behind.
