Aram Sarkissian joins the Armenian militant group AGJSA and travels away from his family in Paris to participate in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. The decision sets up a long separation from home and begins his commitment to armed struggle. His departure foreshadows the distances that will separate him from his loved ones for years.

In October 1993, Aram returns to France to live a 'normal life' again, while his younger brother Levon hatches a plan to assassinate General Djelik during a visit to France. Aram opposes the idea, arguing that Armenian goals lie in Nagorno-Karabakh rather than domestic violence. The family is pulled into a dangerous political drama that will echo for years.

General Djelik is killed when his car is ambushed by three masked gunmen, with Levon among the attackers who are then forced to flee. Talaat Sonlez, Djelik's aide-de-camp, survives the attack and later shoots Levon when he pretends to be dead. The Armenians claim responsibility for the operation, escalating the international shadow war.

Talaat survives the ambush and begins a quiet search for the assassins while a counter-terrorism policeman named Paul watches AGJSA but withholds the identities of the attackers. The case becomes a strategic chess game between Armenian militants, Turkish operatives, and French authorities. The incident cements a fragile, ongoing cat-and-mouse dynamic.

By January 2001, Levon is paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair, placing strain on the Sarkissian family. Mihran remains bitter toward Levon and Aram, while their sister Meline prepares to marry Stephan, a decision their father Mihran reluctantly tolerates. The family dynamics reflect the long shadow of a violent past.

In Germany, Vartan, the AGJSA leader, negotiates a large arms deal with Kurdish militants to supply rifles for Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh. The PKK leadership split over the terms, with Djalal vocally opposing the deal. Accepting the bargain, Vartan ties Armenian arms to a political threat against Turkish diplomats if a new offensive arises.

Aram slips back into France through Calais after hiding in Karabakh and is photographed by Virgil, an agent working for Paul. He voices reservations about arming Kurdish militants and certainly doubts that assassinating Turkish diplomats will help the Armenian cause. The tension between his duties and his conscience grows.

En route to the Kurdish weapons exchange, Talaat and Djalal ambush the Kurds and then shoot at the Armenians waiting at a nighttime meeting point on a beach. Aram is wounded but manages to kill Djalal before escaping, not realizing the latter's identity. The betrayal shifts the balance of power and places Aram squarely in the Turkish–terrorist web.

Unaware of Djalal's betrayal, Aram abducts Kervedjian, a diplomat of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, and interrogates him for clues. Paul, who has been tracking Talaat, reveals that Talaat is an operative tied to the Turkish government, but Aram remains cautious about whom to trust. The hunt for truth widens the circle of suspects.

To survive, Aram enlists help from his friend Fodil Boushaour, who provides him with handguns, a car, a fake license, and backup from Saad and Mamad. This support system helps him continue his mission against the Turkish backers and their collaborators. The network underscores the personal nature of the conflict.

Mihran and Meline argue about Aram's status, and Meline invites him to her wedding as a gesture of reconciliation. At the same time, Kervedjian informs Aram that Djalal betrayed the Kurds and a new Kurdish weapons deal is in place, assigning Aram the task of escorting the weapons to Karabakh and killing Turkish officials involved. The mounting pressure pushes Aram toward a decisive confrontation.

At Meline's wedding party, Talaat and Mehmet ambush Mihran and Levon in the restroom, triggering a violent confrontation. Aram tracks them and shoots Talaat and Mehmet in a dramatic, close-quarters clash. With the police closing in, Aram heads toward Dunkirk to flee France, and Paul chooses not to arrest him, allowing a quiet, painful farewell with his father.
