Recently divorced John Baxter becomes intrigued by the infamous haunted property at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, New York. Persuaded by Clifford Sanders, John decides to purchase the house despite its notorious history.

Clifford Sanders bravely enters the eerie house alone to assess its haunted reputation. His exploration leads him to the attic, where he encounters an unknown presence, subsequently becoming trapped in a room filled with flies.

When John arrives at the house, he finds Clifford unresponsive, with authorities attributing his death to a heart attack or stroke. Despite the unsettling circumstances, John remains determined to make the house his home.

Melanie shares a series of haunting photographs of Clifford with John, revealing him as a decaying corpse. Undeterred, John assures her that the house is normal and plans to reunite with her later.

While alone in the house, Melanie encounters a frightened maid and decides to investigate the basement. She is overwhelmed by an inexplicable chill that forces her back upstairs, just as the basement door crashes open.

That night, John finds Melanie in a panic, curled up against the wall of the house. Despite her desperate pleas for him to acknowledge the malevolent force in the house, John’s disbelief continues to grow.

In a frantic rush after discovering a demonic figure in her photographs, Melanie crashes her car, resulting in a fiery death. Authorities, including John, view it as an accident, further clouding John's perception of the house.

John’s daughter Susan, alongside her friend Lisa, conducts a Ouija board session in the attic. Their game takes a turn for the alarming when the board warns Susan is in danger, and a glass shatters, suggesting something sinister is at play.

After a boat outing, Nancy searches for Susan, only to find her unresponsive in her room, having locked the door. Concerned and feeling an unexplainable connection, she urges John to look for their daughter, resulting in chaos.

Upon John’s return with groceries, he learns of Susan's lifeless body found at the docks. Confusion ensues as her friends claim she fell from the boat, while Nancy insists she saw Susan alive in the house.

Haunted by nightmares of an old well in the basement, John seeks advice from friend Doctor Elliot West. The doctor suggests a team of paranormal investigators explore the house, suspecting something supernatural may be occurring.

The team of paranormal investigators arrives to uncover the truth behind the house's dark history. Nancy has a chilling confrontation with a spectral figure that eerily replicates Susan’s voice, drawing her toward the well.

As John and Elliot attempt to confront the presence in the well, supernatural chaos erupts. Elliot is suddenly dragged into the depths by a demon, leaving the remaining team in a state of panic as the house begins to tremble violently.

In a desperate bid for survival, John, Nancy, and a few others escape through a window moments before the house combusts in flames. They flee just as the chaos escalates and the malevolent presence reveals its deadly nature.

As they stand amidst the fiery remnants of the house, John and Nancy spot a single fly emerging from the old well. This eerie sight signals that the terror they just escaped may not truly be over, hinting at lingering malevolence.
