Amar Akbar Anthony

Kishanlal is released from prison after serving a sentence for the fatal hit-and-run caused by his employer, the crime lord Robert. He returns home hopeful, only to face a life that has fallen into ruin and a wife he cannot immediately save from despair.

Back home, Kishanlal discovers Bharati suffering from TB and their three sons starving. He begs Robert for help, but is publicly humiliated, abused, and effectively disowned by the crime lord who still controls their fate.

Turning the tables on Robert's henchmen, Kishanlal escapes in a car loaded with smuggled gold bullion. He leads a perilous pursuit by Robert's goons as he tries to vanish with the loot.

Returning home after the chase, Kishanlal finds Bharati gone and discovers a suicide note expressing her shame and despair. He resolves to protect his remaining family and considers his next moves against Robert.

Kishanlal places his sons at the foot of Gandhi's statue to mislead Robert's goons. The trio are adopted by three guardians—Amar by Hindu police Superintendent Khanna, Anthony by Father Gonsalves, and Raju by a Muslim tailor Darji Ilahabadi—each raised in distinct faiths.

Kishanlal escapes his pursuers and drives into a fiery car crash. In the aftermath, both the police and Robert's men believe Kishanlal and his sons have died in the wreck.

Amar grows up under Khanna's protection in a Hindu home, Anthony is raised by the Catholic priest Father Gonsalves, and Raju is cared for by the Muslim tailor Darji Ilahabadi. Each boy matures within the faith of his guardian, unaware of their shared past.

Bharati is caught in a storm and is struck blind, a fate the story links to her act of leaving her children. She is rescued by Darji Ilahabadi and brought home, where she learns that her family is presumed dead.

Two decades pass as Bharati remains blind and Kishanlal consolidates power with Robert's gold, becoming a formidable crime lord. He kidnaps Robert's infant daughter Jenny, raising her as his own and sending her abroad for schooling to secure his dominance.

Bharati reappears in danger when she is rushed to a private hospital after another accident. All three brothers—Amar, Akbar, and Anthony—donate blood to save her life, underscoring their unspoken bond despite years apart.

Jenny returns to Robert's orbit, but Zebisco betrays Kishanlal and takes Jenny to Robert in exchange for his own security. Father Gonsalves is killed in the upheaval, and Bharati's earlier faith in family life seems to be tested in waves of violence and loss.

The brothers infiltrate Robert's mansion, disguising themselves to bring Jenny to safety. In the chaos, Anthony learns that Kishanlal and Bharati are his parents, while Amar and Akbar come to terms with their bond as brothers; the family reunites with their loved ones as they drive into the sunset, finally together.
