Kishanlal is released from prison on 15 August 1955 after serving a sentence for the fatal hit-and-run committed by his employer, crime lord Robert. He returns home to find his wife Bharati suffering from TB and their three sons starving. When he confronts Robert for help, he is humiliated, abused, and disowned, setting him on a path of revenge.
