All Cheerleaders Die

The film begins by following Mäddy Killian (Caitlin Stasey) as she captures heartfelt memories with her childhood friend, Alexis (Felisha Cooper), during the lead-up to summer break and the demanding cheerleading practices ahead. In their conversation, Alexis expresses her fears about the dangers associated with cheerleading, bringing to light the risks of complicated maneuvers that could result in severe injuries or even death. This grim caution proves to be tragically accurate when Alexis goes airborne, only for her teammates to miss catching her, leading to a devastating loss.

As the school year kicks off, Mäddy gathers her courage to audition for the cheerleading squad, dazzling everyone with her remarkable acrobatic skills. Notably, she observes that Tracy (Brooke Butler) has started dating Terry (Tom Williamson), the star football player who had a past connection with Alexis before her untimely death. As Mäddy integrates with the other cheerleaders, she forms an unexpected friendship with Martha (Reanin Johannink), a pious and meticulous individual, and Hanna (Amanda Grace Cooper), the timid team mascot. However, this blossoming sisterhood stirs jealousy in Leena ([Sianoa Smit-McPhee]), Mäddy’s former girlfriend, who is baffled by her ex’s decision to mingle with the cheerleaders.

What remains hidden from everyone else is that Mäddy has her own motives for joining the cheer squad: she is intent on seeking vengeance against Terry for reasons that will soon come to light. As part of her plan, Mäddy manipulates Tracy into believing that Terry had betrayed her during the summer and seduces her at a gathering composed of football players and cheerleaders. This act of treachery devastates Leena, who feels both hurt and enraged, while Terry’s fury leads him to declare that “dogs” (the football players) should not date “bitches” (the cheerleaders). In a moment of unchecked rage, he strikes Tracy, prompting a chaotic escape effort from the cheerleaders. However, their flight is cut short when Terry’s actions culminate in a catastrophic incident that claims the lives of the cheer squad.

In a whirlwind of shock and horror, Leena uses her knowledge of Wicca and ancient stones imbued with mystical energy to resurrect the deceased cheerleaders. To their bewilderment, the girls wake up the next day in a state of confusion and fear, especially Martha and Hanna, who find themselves inexplicably sharing each other’s bodies. As things begin to settle, the reality dawns on them: they have no memory of the previous night’s events. However, Leena’s insights soon trigger the unraveling of their circumstances. Overwhelmed by hunger, they are driven to hunt down one of Leena’s neighbors to quench their ravenous thirst for blood.

The morning after their gruesome feast presents a stark contrast, as the girls return to school, wielding newfound abilities that leave the football players stunned, who had believed them to be dead. As the hours pass, the cheerleaders start to take down their targets, their insatiable hunger and rage fueling their actions against unsuspecting athletes. Particularly, Martha’s motivations stem from deep-rooted anger due to her sister’s betrayal of her boyfriend, Manny (Leigh Parker). Yet, as the day unfolds, the fragile unity among the girls begins to fray as they confront the dark truths lurking within Mäddy’s video diaries. Mäddy’s true intentions for joining the squad come to light, revealing a troubling history involving Terry.

As tensions escalate and loyalties shift, it is only Leena who remains willing to hear Mäddy’s cries for understanding. In a moment of raw honesty, Mäddy divulges her true reasons, recounting how she was assaulted by Terry while trying to make a memorial video for Alexis—an admission that leaves the group reeling.

The stakes rise when Terry begins to hunt the girls down, eliminating them one by one, having figured out their secret and aiming to exploit it. His plan is to remove the enchanted stones from their bodies, to harness their powers for his own sinister purposes. Cornered in a graveyard, Leena and Mäddy find themselves facing Terry, who tries to press Leena for the secrets of her magic.

In a desperate fight for survival, Mäddy fiercely confronts Terry, and in a moment of synchronicity, Leena’s grief and determination unleash a power that expels the stones from Terry. Yet, this victory comes at a high cost; Mäddy’s life lies in the balance, but Leena’s unwavering love ultimately brings her friend back from the brink.

As the tumult subsides, the pair share a passionate kiss, but their moment of triumph is shattered by the horrifying sight of Alexis rising from Terry’s corpse, her gaze locked onto Leena, burning with anger. The film concludes with an unsettling note, revealing that this is just the first installment in a series, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting what comes next.
