A struggling book publisher is abandoned by his socially ambitious wife, who leaves him for a wealthy society millionaire, taking their son. His fortunes turn when a bestselling romance author signs with his firm. Meanwhile, his ex‑wife, now married to the millionaire, teams with her mother‑in‑law to sue for custody of the boy.
