Ace Ventura, a quirky Miami private detective, is hired by Melissa Robinson to locate Snowflake, the Dolphins' kidnapped mascot. He endures rent struggles and mockery from the Miami Police Department, led by Lieutenant Lois Einhorn, while taking the case. He vows to bring Snowflake back in time for the big game.

While examining Snowflake's tank, Ventura discovers a rare amber stone. The clue points him toward billionaire Ronald Camp, a known exotic-animal collector. The hunt for the kidnapper accelerates.

Ventura secretly attends Camp's lavish party to gather more clues. He encounters a dangerous shark, turning the party into a perilous confrontation. The mystery deepens as Camp remains a suspect.

Ventura determines Camp cannot be the kidnapper because the amber stone is embedded in Camp's ring, which is present and not missing. He theorizes that the stone comes from a 1984 AFC Championship ring, suggesting a Dolphins teammate as the culprit. Ventura traces the murder to Ray Finkle, a disgraced former Dolphins placekicker who missed a crucial kick in the 1984 Super Bowl and blamed quarterback Dan Marino. He learns Finkle was committed for homicidal tendencies after the team released him. The motive appears to be revenge against Marino.

With Marino suddenly kidnapped, Ventura suspects Finkle's vendetta is taking shape as the latest act of his grudge. The case widens beyond Snowflake to the quarterback's safety. Ventura stays focused on stopping the killer.

Disguised at a psychiatric facility, Ventura discovers a newspaper clipping about Einhorn, described as a missing hiker. Emilio digs through Einhorn's desk and uncovers a love letter from Podacter, linking Einhorn to the investigation. Ventura deduces that Einhorn is actually Ray Finkle in disguise.

Back at Ventura's apartment, the animal residents help him piece together Einhorn's deception. He confirms Einhorn is Finkle in disguise, using the clues from Podacter's letter and the clipping. The revelation sets up the showdown for game day.

On game day, Ventura confronts Einhorn aboard a yacht storage facility, holding Marino and Snowflake hostage. In a dramatic reveal, Ventura unmasks Einhorn as Finkle and Podacter's killer, leading to her arrest after a physical struggle. The immediate danger shifts to the dramatic showdown.

The halftime show celebrates Marino and Snowflake, with Ventura hailed as a hero on the jumbotron. A final scuffle with the Philadelphia Eagles' mascot Swoop adds a comic capstone to the victory, earning him a standing ovation.
