Oliver Twist

A pregnant mother dies giving birth to Oliver at the workhouse. The beadle Mr. Bumble names the newborn Oliver Twist, marking the start of his life within the harsh institution. The birth establishes the orphan's long struggle with poverty and neglect.

Years later, Oliver asks for more gruel and is punished. He is sold to the local undertaker Mr. Sowerberry as an apprentice and is used as a mute during children's funeral ceremonies. The arrangement places him among a harsh new world of exploitation.

Noah Claypole insults Oliver's deceased mother, prompting a confrontation. Oliver fights in self-defense and is subsequently blamed for the trouble. Sowerberry sides with Noah, and Oliver is sent back to the workhouse as punishment.

Oliver escapes his apprenticeship and travels seven days to London. There he meets the Artful Dodger, who brings him to the criminal mastermind Fagin. Oliver learns that Fagin trains boys to steal and lures him into the criminal underworld.

Nancy offers Oliver a maternal, protective presence within the gang, contrasting with Sikes's brutality. Sikes forces Oliver to participate in a burglary at a house. The crime marks Oliver's first direct entanglement with serious wrongdoing.

The burglary goes awry when Oliver is shot, and Sikes escapes, leaving him behind. Mr. Brownlow and his niece Rose Maylie find Oliver and nurse him back to health. They notice a striking resemblance between Oliver and a portrait of Agnes Fleming.

It is revealed that Monks is Oliver's half-brother, with a will that could favor Oliver unless he falls into crime. Monks visits Mr. and Mrs. Bumble and buys a locket that Mrs. Bumble had stolen from Oliver's mother. This locket becomes a pivotal piece in the family plot against Oliver.

Monks offers Fagin money to murder Oliver, introducing a new layer of danger for the boy. Fagin weighs the offer and considers using his network to protect the plan. The seed of murder is planted within the criminal circle.

Nancy overhears Monks's scheme and warns Mr. Brownlow and Rose Maylie. Unaware of Fagin's deeper schemes, she still acts to safeguard Oliver. Fagin sends Charlie Bates to monitor Nancy, hoping to keep her quiet.

Charlie reveals what he heard to Fagin, who confronts Nancy the following day. Believing she betrayed them, Bill Sikes murders Nancy in a brutal act. Fagin is arrested by the police, bringing a dramatic turn to the criminal operation.

Haunted by Nancy's memory, Sikes is cornered by an angry mob on a rooftop and ends up hanging himself. The criminals' grip on Oliver collapses as the law closes in. This marks the end of the main gang's influence over Oliver.

Mr. Brownlow, Oliver, and Rose confront Mr. and Mrs. Bumble at the workhouse to reveal their role in Monks' schemes. The Bumbles lose their jobs, and Monks is sent to prison. Oliver's origins are finally acknowledged by those who care for him.

Oliver decides to leave the criminal world behind and continues his life with Mr. Brownlow. The film closes on a note of hope as Oliver embraces a future outside the workhouse's shadow. The bond with Mr. Brownlow promises stability and care.
