Konrad von Seidlitz, a young, ambitious lawyer, celebrates his engagement to Cornelia, daughter of Justice Minister Volkerts. To generate publicity he deliberately avoids paying parking fines and volunteers for a two‑week prison sentence. He exploits his legal expertise to keep working, stay cheerful and flout prison rules, gaining attention but also making foes. Just before his release a search uncovers 200 g of cocaine, thrusting him into a serious crisis despite his innocence.
