Zokkomon

Kunal, an orphan, is summoned to the village of Jhunjhun Nagri by his uncle Deshraj Kumar and travels there. He immediately senses hostility from Deshraj, his wife Rajrani, and his cousin. He is enrolled in the local school owned by Deshraj, marking the start of his troubled new life.

In the new school, Kunal witnesses the teachers’ incompetence and indifference. When he tries to correct a mistake, he is publicly humiliated and punished. The episode highlights the oppressive dynamics that govern his days in Jhunjhun Nagri.

Kunal befriends two classmates, Arjun and Rani, who share stories of harsh treatment by the teachers. They reveal that students live in fear of those who are meant to teach them. The trio becomes a small beacon of solidarity amid the village's cruelty.

Kunal, Arjun, and Rani explore an abandoned palace in the nearby jungle, rumored to be haunted. They encounter a mysterious man who frightens them and warns them away. The eerie encounter foreshadows the larger secrets plaguing the village.

State auditors reveal the embezzlement of ₹60 lakhs meant for a school library. Deshraj learns that Kunal’s late parents had taken out a ₹75 lakh life insurance policy in his name and sees a possible escape route. The revelations set Deshraj on a desperate path to avoid punishment.

Deshraj takes Kunal to Mumbai under the pretext of a carnival trip, abandons him there, and later fakes Kunal’s death to claim the insurance payout. Kunal is left to navigate the dangerous streets alone, cut off from any family.

Kunal is found by Kittu Chopra, a kind-hearted homeless woman who secretly lives backstage at a theatre. She shelters him and they grow close as she learns of his plight and hopes to help him. They form a fragile bond as they navigate life on the margins.

Kittu is arrested while they try to board a train back to Jhunjhun Nagri, forcing Kunal to continue his journey on his own. He eventually makes his way back toward his village, carrying the weight of his abandonment.

Back in Jhunjhun Nagri, Arjun and Rani are taken to the village godman, who claims Kunal was killed by an evil spirit and blames the children for his death. The town descends into superstition as the truth about Kunal is suppressed. The fear drives new tensions within the community.

Kunal returns to the abandoned palace where he meets Dr. Vivek Rai, a scientist once driven out for promoting education and rational thought. Vivek explains his exile and joins Kunal in a plan to challenge Deshraj’s corruption. Together they create the masked vigilante Zokkomon.

Using Vivek’s inventions, Zokkomon frightens and humiliates cruel teachers and exposes their mistreatment of students. The public begins to see the injustice behind the village’s superstition, inspiring the children to stand up for themselves. The godman and Deshraj grow increasingly desperate.

During a tense village meeting, Deshraj and the godman try to manipulate the crowd, but Zokkomon reappears to declare that he will only leave once the villagers abandon blind faith. A dramatic chase leads to Deshraj being cornered and forced to confess his crimes, including abandoning Kunal. The village celebrates its newfound freedom, the fake godman is expelled, and Vivek transforms the abandoned palace into a science school, with Kunal, Kittu, and Vivek forming a new family.
