Set in 2054, Zenon Kar, Kirsten Storms, is now 18 and has a proven track record of excellence, which makes her leap at the chance to compete in the very first Galactic Teen Supreme contest. She is eager to prove herself once again, but the path to the competition starts with a hurdle: the first stage requires a hot-pod license for a dangerous Earth-to-Moon race to the Moonstock festival. After a series of near-misses during her driving test, a mysterious force seems to seize control of her pod, guiding it to a safe, flawless landing on Earth and unlocking the license she needs to race forward.
Commander Edward Plank, Stuart Pankin, and Aunt Judy Kling, Holly Fulger, share a foster daughter named Dasha, who idolizes Zenon and often finds herself tumbling into trouble. Dasha, determined to imitate her idol, schemes to become Zenon’s clone and secretly hides inside Zenon’s hot pod just before the race begins. This mix-up sets off a chain of events that tests family loyalties and personal ambitions alike.
As the Moon-bound contenders line up, Zenon lands a second heat with a new, confident rival, Bronley Hale, a charming yet formidable competitor whose presence adds a new layer of rivalry and camaraderie to the competition. At the same time, Sage Borealis, Ben Easter — a lone environmentalist opposed to the Moonstock Festival and the broader plan to colonize the Moon — seeks Zenon’s help, though Sage herself remains uncertain about walking away from the race she’s entered.
The tension spikes when the Moon guardian Selene descends, threatening Earth with violent rain and snowstorms. Faced with an imminent catastrophe, Zenon, Sage, and Dasha join forces with their friends Margie, Cassie, and Bronley, and align with the other racers to mount a rescue mission for the planet’s people. They relocate everyone to safety, even those aboard Zenon’s idol Proto Zoa’s tour bus, and they press forward with a plan to remove the Moon Dome, using hover pods to lift it. Yet the dome proves far heavier than anticipated, sparking a desperate race against time.
In a pivotal turn, Zenon reunites with Dasha, and with the help of Cmd. Edward Plank and Aunt Judy, the team receives crucial support to attempt lifting the dome. The combined strength of this disparate group finally succeeds, sending the dome drifting free into space while the Moon’s base is damaged and destroyed. As the base’s operations collapse and the weather begins to clear, the immediate threat to Earth fades and the group returns home.
In the aftermath, Sage and Zenon’s relationship deepens, bringing a personal note of connection to the high-stakes adventures they’ve shared. Proto Zoa’s band Microbe stages a concert, introducing a new act, Cosmic Blush, to the interstellar music scene. Meanwhile, Pat Numbar, the host of Galactic Teen Supreme, invites Zenon to compete in a new contest on Mars to clinch a decisive victory, but she declines, noting that Mars is named after the Roman god of war. The story closes with a sense of new horizons, as a budding Martian colony begins to take shape and Zenon looks toward a future where possibilities seem as boundless as space itself.
