Yellow Sky

In 1867, Stretch Dawson leads a gang that robs a bank. They are chased by soldiers, forcing them to cross the salt flats of Death Valley in brutal heat and dehydration. The desperate journey drives them toward the ghost town of Yellow Sky as their only refuge.

The gang reaches the ghost town of Yellow Sky, where Mike and her Grandpa are the town's only residents. Stretch is immediately drawn to Mike, while the others assess the town's vulnerability and the risks of keeping the loot nearby. The uneasy balance between crime, desire, and survival begins to unfold.

Back in the Yellow Sky house, Grandpa is pressured into a deal to split his gold, estimated at about $50,000. Stretch negotiates with Mike and Grandpa, promising a fair share if they keep the loot quiet, while Dude listens from the shadows. The arrangement foreshadows the betrayals to come.

Lengthy grabs Mike and forces himself on her, triggering a violent struggle. Bull Run tries to intervene to protect Mike, and Lengthy holds him underwater. Stretch arrives, rescues Bull Run, and subdues Lengthy by holding her head underwater until she nearly drowns. After the confrontation, Stretch cleans up and reaffirms his bargain with Mike.

A large band of Apaches appears while the gang digs for gold. Grandpa tells Stretch that he has kept their Apache allies at a distance, a claim Stretch doubts. In gratitude for the old man’s restraint, Stretch agrees to share the gold with the group, setting a fragile alliance in motion.

Dude convinces the others to turn against Stretch, and a shootout erupts among the rocks. Stretch is wounded, and Mike helps him back to her home. The mutiny shatters the gang’s unity and raises the stakes for what they will do with the gold.

That night, the gang surrounds the Yellow Sky house, afraid of Stretch and his growing influence and intent on escaping with the loot. Tension builds as trust collapses under the weight of greed and fear. The siege marks a turning point toward violence rather than reconciliation.

Thinking Stretch is dead, the gang stages a frantic three-way gunfight in the saloon. Mike searches for the truth and discovers Dude and Lengthy dead inside while Stretch lies unconscious but alive. The violent confrontation tests loyalties and pushes the story toward its final act.

After the battles, Stretch, Walrus and Half Pint—now wearing Dude’s clothes—decide to return the stolen money to the bank. They ride back into town with Mike and Grandpa, choosing a path away from a life spent running from their crimes. The act signals a move toward redemption rather than further crime.

Stretch, Mike, and Grandpa ride off together, leaving Yellow Sky behind. With the money returned and a fragile truce holding, they head toward an uncertain future beyond the ghost town’s shadow. The closing scenes establish a cautious alliance rooted in mutual need rather than trust.
