Arivudai Nambi was killed because Thangapandi wanted the MLA seat for himself. Although Nambi was chosen for the MLA position by Thangapandi's father, Thangapandi conspired with Agaliya's brother Kathir to eliminate Nambi and seize political control. One night, Thangapandi and Nambi’s own brother-in-law carried out the murder, removing the rival and clearing Thangapandi's path to power.

The film establishes early that Thangapandi resents not being chosen, setting the stage for the conspiracy.

Agaliya, the mother of Tamizharasan, takes her own life after being overwhelmed by the violence that engulfs her family. Her brother Kathir is killed during the political conspiracies, and the brutal murder of Arivudai Nambi creates a chain of tragedies that leaves her emotionally destroyed. With her brother dead and her family torn apart by political violence, she sees no way out.

Tamizh agrees to go to jail because he needs money for his grandfather's cancer operation, which costs 3 lakhs. A man named Govindan offers him 4 lakhs to take blame for an accident, but Tamizh negotiates for 5 lakhs and accepts. This decision pulls him deeper into the criminal underworld where he meets Manimaran and begins his education in street politics.

Karunakaran is a powerful political figure who was originally chosen for the MLA seat before Arivudai Nambi. He becomes Tamizh's secret protector, orchestrating events to keep him alive when danger approaches. He is revealed to be the mysterious caller who tips off Tamizh about the assassination attempt in jail, and later supports Tamizh's political ambitions, even attending his wedding. His motivations seem tied to opposing Thangapandi's faction.

Pandi leases Tamizh a bar behind Central Station, drawing him deeper into the political machinery. This appears to be a strategic move to keep Tamizh close and under observation, possibly as part of a larger plan. However, Tamizh eventually discovers that Pandi had ordered his assassination, revealing the help was merely a tactic to manipulate him.

Thiyagu is Pandi's ally who becomes a key witness against the political corruption. Tamizh tries to use Thiyagu to expose Pandi's crimes. In response, Thangapandi and Pandi's faction plot to silence him. Thiyagu ultimately dies in a fatal car accident arranged by the conspirators, eliminating the witness before Tamizh can use his testimony in court.

Tamizh discovers that his father was actually Kathir, who was killed by Pandi during the original conspiracy to murder Arivudai Nambi. After winning the MLA election, Tamizh confronts Pandi in an abandoned warehouse and hangs him, delivering personal vengeance for his father's murder. This act completes his transformation from victim to powerful political figure.

Multiple factors drive Tamizh into politics. After experiencing jail, violence, and corruption firsthand, he decides to fight back through the system. The final trigger is when Anjana reveals she has been harassed by a caller with political protection. Tamizh also discovers Pandi ordered his assassination and learns about the broader conspiracy against his family. He exposes Thangapandi's criminal machinations publicly at Karunakaran's funeral, revealing the conspiracy involving murders and political corruption. At Karunakaran's funeral, Tamizh publicly accuses Thangapandi of masterminding the murders of Arivudai Nambi and other crimes. This dramatic confrontation exposes the corruption connecting politics and crime, allowing Tamizh to shift public opinion in his favor. The exposure is crucial to his electoral success and validates his political platform against the established power structure.

Tamizh meets Anjana after a motorcycle accident while he is recovering. Their relationship develops from this chance encounter and deepens throughout the film. Anjana becomes a grounding force in his life, and she supports his political ambitions. Their marriage represents a personal victory amid the violence and corruption that dominates his journey.
