Women in Cellblock 9

The camp commander and Dr. Costa await guards arriving with six detainees aboard a truck. Three of the women have been arrested on suspicion of revolutionary activity, while the other three are kept for the guards' assault. The waiting ground is tense as the fate of the prisoners is decided in the shadow of Cellblock 9.

Karine, Barbara, and Aida are found naked and chained in a standing position inside Cellblock 9, a stark display of their confinement. The brutal routine begins to shape the women's resolve and sense of shared fate. The moment marks the start of their grim experience in the camp.

Interrogations begin in Cellblock 9, with Dr. Costa assisting the tortures. Barbara and Aida resist and remain quiet, while Karine breaks under the pressure. Some revolutionaries denounce the city as the pain continues, intensifying the political stakes of their confinement.

Indigenous student Marie also ends up in Cellblock 9. Allegedly found with propaganda material, she endures three days without food or water in a single cell. Afterward she is brought to dinner with the camp commander and the doctor, where a disturbing encounter occurs and she is given a sip of salty Champagne.

The four women in Cellblock 9—Karine, Barbara, Aida, and Marie—pool their wits to reach contacts in the capital. They forge a plan to communicate with outside supporters and leak information, hoping to undermine the guards from within. The moment crystallizes a fragile sense of solidarity.

They create a distraction for a guard, knock him out, and escape with his rifle. The plan succeeds, and the women slip from the cellblock into the jungle's edge, seizing a means to fight back. The moment offers a glimmer of freedom, but danger remains close behind.

During the escape, Aida is killed in a gunfight with a guard, and another guard dies as well. The loss underscores the high price of attempting to flee and the brutality of the regime. The remaining prisoners press deeper into the jungle.

Barbara is shot as Karine and Marie race further into the jungle, and the two survivors press on toward safety. The terrain and the pursuit strain them, forcing split-second decisions under extreme stress. They push deeper into the wilderness with the memory of their fallen comrade.

The surviving women reach an old temple and tend Barbara’s wound, removing the bullet from her shoulder. The temple offers a brief refuge from the pursuit, a fragile pause in the violence. The trio steels themselves for what comes next.

Guards close in on the temple, and Barbara is killed in the ensuing turmoil while Karine and Marie, alerted by her screams, run back toward the temple. The siege tightens; the rebels realize their only chance is to hold the line inside the sacred ruin. The countdown to a final confrontation begins.

At the temple, Karine tries to seize the commander's pistol but fails. The commander orders the guards to fire, sealing the fate of Karine and Marie. The standoff ends with their deaths, closing the night with brutal finality.

With the corpses desecrated, the film closes on a grim note of violence and oppression. The revolution's cost is laid bare as the camp's cruelty remains unpunished. The last scene leaves the jungle echoing with silence and tragedy.
