Pooh walks to the wooden bridge over the river and spots a fir cone. He trips and the cone is carried away by the current, inspiring him to turn the river into a racing game. He names the game Poohsticks and begins testing it with sticks.

Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit and Roo begin playing Poohsticks on the river. As they play, they notice Eeyore floating down the current and manage to rescue him. The moment marks the first hint that something is off with Eeyore.
