Wing Chun

Wing-chun, a capable young woman, runs the family tofu shop with her father, sister, and aunt in a mountain village. When local bullies try to force marriage on her during her youth, she trains in kung fu to defend herself and others. Her growing prowess makes her a target for predatory men, but also the village's best defense.

A beautiful widow Charmy arrives in town, catching Flying Monkey's eye. Wing-chun intervenes when Charmy is threatened, rescuing her and offering her a job at the family shop. Charmy's presence stirs trouble for the town and for Wing-chun's reputation.

Pok-to, Wing-chun's childhood sweetheart, returns after years of martial training to claim her hand. He initially mistakes Charmy for Wing-chun and Wing-chun for a rival, triggering a tense misunderstanding that complicates their bond. The air between old lovers becomes delicate as secrets begin to surface.

Wing-chun chooses to remain silent about her tomboy warrior persona to avoid scaring Pok-to away. She navigates the fragile balance between love, duty, and her martial reputation. The dynamic in the village grows more complicated as she hides her true strength.

In a night duel, Wing-chun defeats Flying Monkey and wounds him with a fireball, leaving him impotent. The victory provokes Flying Chimpanzee's hunger for revenge and raises the stakes for Wing-chun and Pok-to. The bandits begin plotting a more dangerous trap.

Flying Chimpanzee arrives and kidnaps Charmy to lure Wing-chun and Pok-to into the bandits' mountain fortress. He traps them, planning to force Wing-chun into submission while Charmy and Pok-to are kept as bait. The trio becomes trapped in a dangerous game of cat and mouse.

The bandits impose a three-round test: Wing-chun must pull a spear from a wall within the time limit, and Charmy and Pok-to may be released if she wins. She uses cunning tactics to reach victory, yet she does not fully defeat Flying Chimpanzee and suffers an injury from his cotton belly attack. The inevitable rematch looms over the fortress.

After the fight, Wing-chun seeks guidance from her master Ng Mui, who advises her to abandon the fight and return to ordinary life. The blunt counsel clashes with Wing-chun's sense of duty and the ongoing threat. She wrestles with whether true strength lies in fighting or living peacefully.

Pok-to discovers Wing-chun's tomboy disguise and reassures her that her non-traditional appearance does not matter to him. She gains confidence and realizes that love can coexist with her warrior abilities. This revelation strengthens their bond and resolves some of the earlier misunderstandings.

During a moment with Pok-to, Wing-chun accidentally discovers that her 'inch strike' is the crucial technique to defeat Flying Chimpanzee's cotton belly. This newfound understanding gives her hope for a decisive victory. She trains mentally to apply the technique in the upcoming rematch.

With renewed purpose, Wing-chun leaves to train and prepare for a rematch against Flying Chimpanzee. She aims to apply the inch-strike insight to outmaneuver the bandit's defenses. Pok-to stands by her side, ready to support her in the final confrontation.

In a climactic return to the fortress, Wing-chun faces Flying Chimpanzee again and deploys the refined inch-strike to overpower him. She defeats the bandit against all odds, forcing him to acknowledge her superiority. Charmy is freed, and Pok-to's courage and Wing-chun's skill restore balance to the village.

With the bandit threat gone, Wing-chun and Pok-to marry in a village-wide celebration. The community acknowledges her courage and balance of strength with love. Peace returns as the couple begins a new life together.
