Link lives in a rundown trailer park in Canada with his abusive father and younger brother, Travis. Their home situation is fraught with tension and violence, which impacts Link deeply.

After suffering a severe beating from his father, Link learns that his mother, whom he believed to be dead, is actually alive. This revelation prompts him to impulsively decide to escape with his brother, Travis, in search of their mother.

While buying supplies at a store, Link encounters Pasmay, a Mi'kmaq pow wow dancer. Pasmay defends Link and Travis against a racist store clerk, leading to a spontaneous car escape from the escalating situation.

After their escape from the store, Pasmay offers Link and Travis a ride, claiming he has food. Gradually, he builds trust with the brothers, promising to help them find their mother.

The trio visits a rehab center where Link's mom was rumored to stay. The owner reveals she was kicked out, deepening Link's frustration, but Pasmay surprises Link by stealing the rehab file containing their mother's address.

With the stolen information, Link, Pasmay, and Travis visit the address, only to find it abandoned and derelict. In a moment of heartbreak, Link discovers old photos of his mother, leading to an emotional breakdown.

Pasmay takes the opportunity to teach Link and Travis about indigenous culture and language. He shares his pow wow dance routine, though Link feels embarrassed and walks away after Travis ridicules him.

When Pasmay's car breaks down in heavy rain, they accept a ride from Smokey, who agrees to help Link find his mother in exchange for assistance with his cake-making business.

At the nightclub 'Tiger Lily', where Link's mom once worked, Link meets a drag queen who provides information about the tribe of his mother. This experience brings him one step closer to understanding his heritage.

Facing internal conflicts, Travis expresses frustration over Link's constant demands and hints at Link's attraction to Pasmay. After a fallout, Link promises his brother a hotel and food to mend their relationship.

Under the moonlight by a waterfall, Link and Pasmay share their first kiss. The moment intensifies as they spend the night together, marking a significant step in their relationship.

As doubts creep in, Link lashes out at Pasmay, pushing him away and insulting him. This conflict leads to a brief separation, highlighting the struggles of their evolving relationship.

Link and Pasmay reconcile their differences and reaffirm their love for each other. Eventually, Link tracks down his mother, who expresses sorrow for her past actions and agrees to reconnect.

In a touching moment, Link, his mother, and Pasmay embrace in a heartfelt family reunion. Travis joins in, showcasing the strengthening bond among the three, now united.

The film concludes with Link, Pasmay, and Travis joyfully dancing to a pow wow routine on the beach. This celebratory moment embodies their newfound connection to each other and to their cultural roots.
