Where the Boys Are

Four friends from Penmore College—Carole, Laurie, Sandra, and Jennie—decide to embark on an adventurous spring break trip to sunny Ft. Lauderdale. Carole seeks freedom from her long-term relationship, while the others are eager for romance and excitement.

During their drive to the beach, the group encounters a charming hitchhiker named Scott Nash. He is on his way to promote his band, and after some pleasant conversation, they invite him to join them on their trip.

Upon arrival in Ft. Lauderdale, the friends are excited by the lively and youthful atmosphere surrounding them. They check into a low-cost hotel, finding it less than satisfactory, but they decide to make the best of their stay.

Sandra contacts her affluent aunt, Barbara, who is at the airport to welcome her successful cousin Camden. Camden informs Barbara that he will be leaving Ft. Lauderdale soon for St. Tropez, leaving the friends feeling the urgency to see him.

The group plans to attend a performance by Scott and his band at the City Limits nightclub, inviting Sandra's relatives. However, upon arriving, they are devastated to learn that Scott's performance has been canceled at the last minute.

As the night progresses, Sandra and Laurie get swept up in the excitement and end up dancing wildly on a table. Their reckless behavior leads to their arrest for disorderly conduct, causing chaos among the friends.

At dawn, Jennie and Scott share a romantic moment on the beach, culminating in a tender kiss. This connection deepens Jennie's feelings, adding tension to her relationship with Camden.

To help pay off Laurie and Sandra's bail, Jennie convinces Carole to enter a 'Hot Bod' dance contest. Carole's decision leads to a confrontation with her boyfriend Chip, who unexpectedly proposes a breakup after witnessing her dance.

Camden invites Jennie and her friends to a cocktail party hosted after the benefit concert. This invitation makes Scott feel jealousy, creating tensions as the dynamics between the characters shift.

At the cocktail party, as Scott searches for Jennie, he finds her alone with Camden. This encounter leads to a conflict between Scott and Camden over Jennie's affections, heightening the drama of their social interactions.

The following day, Sandra enjoys a romantic night with Officer Ernie Grasso, while Jennie feels torn between her feelings for both Scott and Camden. This emotional turmoil complicates their friendships and romantic interests.

During the benefit concert, Camden performs as expected. However, in an electrifying turn of events, Scott joins him on stage, and the two create an exhilarating musical collaboration that delights the audience.

After the concert, relationships come full circle as Chip and Carole reconcile, showcasing the growth in their relationship. Laurie's bold approach to Camden surprises everyone, reflecting a night of intense emotions and shifting alliances.

As the four friends prepare to leave Ft. Lauderdale and return to Penmore College, they spot Scott hitchhiking. They joyfully offer him a ride, indicating a new chapter in their lives and friendships.
