In the Darling Diner, Angela Darling cheerfully serves breakfast to the local townsfolk. Her children, especially Thomas, bring youthful energy to the diner, filling it with laughter and joy.

Thomas, who enjoys the comforts of the diner, yearns for a more adventurous life as a swashbuckling pirate. He becomes aware of the weight of growing up and the possibility of leaving his childhood dreams behind.

A passing train interrupts the serene atmosphere, prompting Thomas to make a courageous decision. He climbs aboard the train, leaving behind his baby sister, Wendy, who gazes after him in awe.

As years pass, Wendy grows into a spirited nine-year-old. Inspired by enchanting bedtime stories, she reflects on her mother’s lessons while feeling a growing desire for her own adventures.

One fateful evening, the Darling children gather by the window and spot a mysterious figure on the train’s rooftop. Douglas and James leap aboard, and though hesitant, Wendy manages to jump on last minute.

On the train, the siblings meet Peter, a charismatic adventurer who welcomes them into his world with open arms. They embark on a journey that pulls them away from their familiar lives.

The train leads them to an uncharted island full of mystery and adventure. Guided by Peter, they discover a hidden cove where Thomas continues to seek thrills, joined by other lost boys.

While enjoying their newfound freedom, the children encounter Buzzo, an old figure who warns them about parts of the island that can age them prematurely. Peter stands firmly against Buzzo's influence.

Their carefree days come to an abrupt halt when Douglas suffers a severe head injury during a swim, causing him to disappear. Wendy and James search desperately for him, realizing the seriousness of their situation.

As time passes, James begins to age in a frightening manner, worrying both him and Wendy. This secret adds pressure on them, forcing them to keep their struggles hidden from Peter.

When Peter sees what is happening to James, he urges him to take drastic actions to prevent further deterioration. Wendy rushes to support her brother while dealing with the shock of their reality.
