Twelve-year-old Wendy is unhappy to be spending her summer vacation with her parents at her grandmother's neglected riding stables. Haunted by a past riding accident, she’s afraid of horses. However, her perspective changes when she encounters Dixie, a beautiful mare who has escaped from a butcher. A strong bond forms between the girl and the horse as Wendy works to protect Dixie and confronts her fear, finding courage and connection along the way.
