Enthusiastic about his quest, Henery Hawk departs to find a chicken to eat. His determination drives him to seek out prey, illustrating his eagerness to fulfill his nature as a chicken hawk. This begins his journey into the barnyard environment.

In the barnyard, Barnyard Dawg intentionally throws a watermelon at Foghorn Leghorn, who is busy filing his nails. Foghorn reacts angrily and retaliates by paddling the Dawg, sparking a chase. This introduces the ongoing rivalry between Foghorn and the Dawg.

Foghorn Leghorn spanks the Dawg with a paddle and yells at him to 'Shaddap,' escalating their conflict. The Dawg chases Foghorn but is restrained by his leash, leading to a comical chase that highlights their rivalry and Foghorn's mischievous antics.

Henery Hawk encounters Foghorn Leghorn, who manipulates him into believing that the Dawg is a chicken and himself is a horse, to use Henery in his plans. Henery bites the Dawg's tail, provoking a chase and further antics between the characters.

Henery, with Foghorn's help, attempts to outsmart the Dawg by luring him with music and carrying the dog house while the Dawg investigates. The Dawg falls multiple times, indicating the playful and mischievous nature of their interactions.

Henery Hawk tells the Dawg that he aims to eat chicken, acknowledging his identity as a chicken hawk. The Dawg realizes he has been duped by Foghorn and points out that Foghorn is the true chicken to chase.
