Vigilante

Eddie Marino works at a New York City factory and lives with his wife Vickie and their eight-year-old son Scott. Their routine family life unfolds amid a city plagued by crime. This calm is about to be shattered by violence on their doorstep.

Nick, along with Burke and Ramon, forms a secret vigilante group to take action against crime after growing frustration with the police. They gain tacit support from various neighborhood residents who indirectly assist them. Nick believes only the group can effectively protect their community.

One evening Eddie returns home to find Vickie stabbed and Scott shot dead in a brutal home invasion, carried out as retaliation for Vickie's earlier assistance to a gas-station attendant. Rico Melendez is arrested for the crime. ADA Mary Fletcher pushes for a lengthy prison term since the state has no death penalty.

Rico Melendez, leader of the Headhunter Gang, is arrested for the murders. ADA Mary Fletcher seeks a lengthy prison sentence because the state does not have the death penalty. The case seems straightforward until corruption begins to surface.

Nick tries to recruit Eddie into the vigilante effort, but Eddie declines, preferring to let the courts handle Rico. Rico is released after Prago bribes Judge Sinclair and Rico's attorney Eisenburg. The sense that the system is broken deepens Eddie's resolve to stay away from vigilante action.

Enraged, Eddie attacks the judge and is sentenced to 30 days in prison. While behind bars, he befriends an inmate named Rake who saves him from an assault in the showers. Back outside, the vigilante group continues to surveil and pressure criminal networks.

While Eddie is imprisoned, the vigilante group roughs up a small-time drug dealer and tortures his supplier, pushing them to reveal the network behind the drugs. Their actions lead straight to a high-ranking member of the Mayor's office. The line between justice and vigilantism becomes increasingly blurred.

After his release, Eddie chooses to join the vigilante group and pursues a plan to track down Rico, Prago, and Judge Sinclair. He is driven by the desire to avenge his family and restore a sense of safety in his neighborhood. The real hunt for the criminals begins in earnest.

Eddie and the vigilantes confront Rico in his seedy apartment, where Rico denies killing Scott and blames Prago for the violence. An enraged Eddie fatally shoots Rico, who had stabbed Vickie. Rico's girlfriend attempts to shoot Eddie but wounds Burke; Nick kills her in self-defense.

With Rico dead, Prago takes over the gang and assumes dirty cops killed Rico. That belief sets off a brutal counterstrike as Prago's gang ambushes a police car and kills two cops. The city seethes with fear as the cycle of violence escalates.

Vickie is released from the hospital but refuses to return home, unable to be in the place where her son was murdered. Eddie decides he must move away to escape the gang threat and find a chance at peace. He tells Nick that there must be a place where gangs cannot come.

As Eddie leaves Brooklyn, he spots Prago and the two men exchange shots. Prago hijacks a car, and Eddie steals another to continue the pursuit. The chase leads to a dockyard mill where their vehicles crash in a high-stakes race to confront the killer.

Eddie and Prago chase each other to a storage tower where Prago goads Eddie about Scott. In a deadly moment of resolve, Eddie shoves Prago off the tower to his death without hesitation. The moment caps Eddie's transformation from victim to avenger.

In a final act of retribution, Eddie plants a bomb in Judge Sinclair's car and drives away to an unknown destination. The judge is killed as Eddie seeks a distant, uncertain peace away from the city’s violence.
