Raghuvaran remains stubborn about working only in civil engineering because it represents his professional identity and the years he invested in his degree. His father views this stubbornness as irresponsibility, especially when his younger brother Karthik earns well in the IT sector. This rigid stance creates constant conflict at home but ultimately drives his persistence in pursuing his dream field.

Raghuvaran's mother died of a heart attack while he was out on a date with Shalini. She had a heart condition and repeatedly called Raghuvaran asking him to come home, but he ignored her calls despite Shalini's pleas. When he returned home, he discovered she had already died, leaving him with overwhelming guilt.

Earlier, Raghuvaran was specifically asked to stay home and care for his ill mother while his father and brother were away.

After Raghuvaran's mother died, her lungs were donated to Anitha, a chain smoker who had developed lung cancer. Anitha was the daughter of Ramkumar, the chairman of a civil engineering company in Chennai. This organ donation saved Anitha's life and created the connection that led to Raghuvaran's eventual employment.

Ramkumar, grateful that Raghuvaran's mother's lungs saved his daughter Anitha's life, offered Raghuvaran a job at his civil engineering company as a token of gratitude. Raghuvaran accepted the position, which marked his entry into the working world after four years of unemployment.

Arun Subramaniam, a young businessman who took over his father's Chennai branch, bid for the same government contract to construct high-rise flats using illegal methods. When Raghuvaran won the contract fairly, Arun became furious and hired rowdies to attack the workers at the construction site, desperately trying to derail the project and steal the contract.

Raghuvaran confronted Arun at his office with a hidden microspy camera. The camera recorded Arun admitting to orchestrating the violent attacks on the construction workers. Raghuvaran used this evidence to force Arun to apologize publicly at the hospital, ensuring the project could continue without further interference.

On inauguration day, Arun and his gang ambush Raghuvaran en route to the site. Raghuvaran outwits them and surprisingly chooses to spare Arun, expressing that he has no desire to continue feuding. Instead, he wishes to become friends and escorts Arun to the inauguration, demonstrating his character's growth from conflict to reconciliation.

Raghuvaran won the government contract to construct high-rise flats for re-housing slum residents. The project reached completion within ten months, despite facing delays from Arun's criminal interference. The flats were eventually inaugurated by the state public works minister and Anitha.

The sudden death of his mother while he was neglecting her calls sent Raghuvaran into deep guilt and depression. This tragedy transformed him, filling his life with a heavy sense of responsibility he had previously neglected. His drive to succeed in the construction project was partly fueled by this desire to honor her memory.

Shalini initially despised Raghuvaran due to his obstinacy and pride. However, after learning about the difficulties he faced as an unemployed graduate pursuing his dreams, she softened toward him. She eventually fell in love with him, and on the fateful day, she even pleaded with him to answer his mother's calls.
