David Aames begins his day with an unsettling drive through the eerily silent streets of New York City. He soon realizes that the entire city is deserted, only to wake up in his bedroom, discovering it was merely a vivid dream.

In a jail cell, David recounts his dream to Dr. Curtis McCabe, the psychologist assigned to his case. Facing a murder charge he cannot recall, he wears a strange pale mask, expressing confusion over the events that have led him there.

Following the death of his father, David inherits 51% of the family publishing company. The remaining ownership is held by a board of directors whom David mockingly refers to as the 'Seven Dwarfs', as they expected him to take charge after his father's passing.

During his birthday party, David's best friend, Brian Shelby, introduces him to Sofia Serrano, an enchanting woman. The instant chemistry between David and Sofia becomes apparent, creating an awkward atmosphere as they momentarily ignore Brian.

The celebration takes a turn when Julianna Gianni, a woman David sees casually, interrupts the festivities. Though he feels emotionally distant from Julianna, he recruits Sofia to help him avoid her, navigating the awkwardness of the evening.

Eventually, David learns that he has been trapped within a lucid dream, created by the cryonics company. The Support Technician clarifies that all the horrific events he lived through were mere projections of his disturbed mind.

Faced with the truth of his situation, David must decide between returning to the comforting illusion or waking up to a drastically changed world. He ultimately opts for awakening, knowing he will confront the unfamiliarities of the future.

In a hauntingly poetic moment before his leap, David shares a touching farewell with Sofia. She promises to find him again in another life, reflecting the poignant connection they shared despite the circumstances.

In a powerful culmination, David jumps off a skyscraper, embracing the uncertainty of his fate. As he falls, fragmented memories rush through his mind, ending with an invitation to 'open your eyes', leaving viewers to ponder the nature of reality.
