Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

In the middle of the night, Charlotte Elbourne is abducted by vampire nobleman Baron Meier Link. Her wealthy father, John Elbourne, hires D, a dhampir, to rescue her, dead or alive. The daring pursuit immediately establishes a race against time as supernatural danger closes in.

John Elbourne contracts D to bring Charlotte back, dead or alive. D accepts the dangerous rescue and sets out to track Meier's trail. The arrangement pulls together a dhampir and a crew capable of taking on a vampire nobleman.

D joins the Marcus Brothers as they race after Meier, discovering Charlotte chose to accompany him out of love rather than being kidnapped. Each member brings their own prowess as they close the distance toward the vampire’s lair. The pursuit reveals the depth of Charlotte and Meier's bond and raises the stakes for everyone involved.

Meier hires the mutant Barbarois—the shapeshifter Caroline, the shadow manipulator Bengé, and the werewolf Mashira—to guard him. Bengé kills Nolt, triggering a violent confrontation as the Marcus Brothers breach the Barbarois' home territory. The two groups prepare for a devastating clash.

Grove unleashes a psychic disturbance that traps D in a void created by Bengé. D struggles to break free as the battlefield erupts around him. The Marcus Brothers answer with brutal resolve, avenging Nolt by killing Bengé.

The Marcus Brothers travel to a nearby western town, where Leila convinces the local sheriff to stop D. The town grows wary as suspicions about D escalate. An old man later reveals he once owed his life to the dhampir, recalling a rescue from his youth and helping D escape trouble.

Meier's carriage rests during daylight, and Charlotte wanders out, meeting D and Leila. The trio fights Caroline while Mashira escapes with the carriage. D defeats Caroline but must seek shelter after succumbing to Heat Syndrome caused by too much sunlight.

Leila faces a revived Caroline and survives only by luck when lightning strikes the mutant, killing Caroline. She reveals that a vampire kidnapped her mother in childhood, a trauma that fuels her hatred of vampires. She joins the Marcus Brothers to avenge her parents, and she and D vow to visit each other's graves when one dies.

The Marcus Brothers trap Meier's carriage on a bridge, bombing it and attempting to carjack Charlotte. Mashira's enhanced senses foil the ambush, leading to a brutal confrontation. Kyle is killed and Borgoff loses an eye in the ensuing chaos.

Meier and Charlotte reach the Castle of Chaythe, where Countess Carmilla Elizabeth Bathory awaits them. The Countess listens for a plan to escape to the City of the Night, a vampire refuge located in space. The looming betrayal deepens the danger for all involved.

Mashira stays behind to fight D, and the dhampir slays him in combat. The Barbarois guard is decisively cleared, shifting the balance of power inside the fortress. Meier presses forward with Charlotte toward Carmilla’s supposed aid.

It is revealed that Meier and Charlotte sought Carmilla’s help to reach the City of the Night, but Carmilla betrays them by temporarily slaying Meier and tricking Charlotte into being bitten. The immediate danger escalates as Carmilla’s true intent becomes clear. The fate of Charlotte hangs in the balance as the fortress trembles with danger.

Carmilla haunts D, Borgoff, and Leila with visions drawn from their pasts. D remains unaffected and frees Leila from the spectral assault, but Borgoff is coerced and turned by Carmilla. Grove reappears to save Leila by embracing Borgoff and destroying him, dying in the process.

D confronts Carmilla’s lingering influence and destroys her spirit, while a reawakened Meier destroys her physical form. D and Meier clash in a final duel, but D spares Meier's life and leaves the castle with Leila, taking Charlotte's ring as proof for her father and brother. Meier departs aboard the castle's ship toward the City of the Night.

Years pass and a funeral for Leila draws a large crowd. Among the attendees is Leila's granddaughter, who recognizes D from afar and invites him to join her family, but he kindly declines. D reveals he is glad Leila was not alone at her funeral and leaves contentedly.
