Jaiprakash BE is a cowardly engineer based in Mumbai who lives with his wife and son Sonu. He is a Tamilian and tries to avoid trouble, preferring a quiet family life. This peaceful veneer shatters when the outside world intrudes.

A Tamilian actor S. S. Chandran arrives in Mumbai to search for his sister and brother-in-law, who turn out to be thieves. He seeks shelter with Jai, staying for a few days in Jai's house. His arrival sets in motion a series of dangerous events for Jai and his family.

Jai witnesses a murder committed by the criminal Raaka. He then testifies against Raaka in court, risking his safety. The testimony marks the start of Raaka's vendetta against him.

Following Jai's testimony, Raaka threatens to kill him and torments him from the shadows. The tension escalates as Raaka eventually escapes from prison, vowing revenge. Jai lives under constant fear of Raaka's return.

Madurai Muthupandi arrives in Jai's house and pretends to be Jai's and Pooja's uncle in front of them. He is hosted by Jai, creating a tense deception under the same roof. His presence adds another layer of danger and mystery to Jai's life.

It is revealed that Chandran invited Muthupandi to Mumbai as a way to repay Jai's earlier kindness. The deception is explained through the relationship among the characters. The truth deepens the emotional ties and causes Jai to rethink priorities.

During Holi, Jai and others force Muthupandi to drink Bhaang. He endures the humiliation and stifles his fear to protect Jai. In the scuffle, he is stabbed twice while he fights Raaka's men, and he manages to kill one of them in the process.

Persuaded by his wife, Jai chooses to leave for Chennai with his wife and son for a safer future. He arranges to cover Muthupandi's medical treatment, showing a sense of responsibility to those who helped him. Chandran is left to take care of Muthupandi.

As Jai prepares to depart, Raaka arrives with his men to kill him in front of the colony. Sonu confronts the danger, believing his father to be a true hero. Jai's wife pleads for him to run, but Jai chooses to stand and defend his family.

Jai faces Raaka's men in a fierce battle and defeats them, showing unexpected courage. In the ensuing fight, he breaks Raaka's hands, crippling the villain's ability to threaten him. Muthupandi arrives from the hospital to wish Jai luck, signaling a new chapter.

The conflict resolves with Jai and Sonu embracing, affirming their bond and Jai's protection of his family. Muthupandi's blessing and departure nuance the ending as Jai looks toward a hopeful future in Chennai. The film ends on a note of resilience and familial love.
