The film pits Jeff, a newly graduated engineer, against the feral world of the Okefenokee swamp. The isolated villagers survive by hunting alligators and trading their skins, while Jeff dreams of modern medicine and schooling for them. His old rival, “Gator‑Bait” Blair, rallies the superstitious locals, weaponizing fear and a rifle, leading to a deadly showdown that includes a harrowing escape from a quicksand pit.
