Ultraviolet (2006) – Full Plot Summary & Ending Explained

Read the complete plot breakdown of Ultraviolet (2006), including all key story events, major twists, and the ending explained in detail. Discover what really happened—and what it all means.

In the mid-21st century, a dangerous virus known as the Hemaglophagic virus (HGV) escaped from a laboratory, intended to create enhanced soldiers. Once infected, humans are transformed into hemophages (a.k.a. “vampires”) with a significantly shortened lifespan of only 12 years. They develop features such as elongated eyeteeth, accelerated regeneration, enhanced reflexes, and superior strength. Among those affected is Violet Song jat Shariff, whose infection occurred while she was pregnant. Captured and placed in a holding camp for observation, Violet becomes part of a larger struggle against the oppressive forces led by Vice Cardinal Ferdinand Daxus, who is hell-bent on exterminating hemophages.

Fast forward 12 years: the scientists have terminated Violet’s pregnancy, yet she manages to escape the camp and join the Hemophage Underground. Disguised as courier XPD154, Violet infiltrates the Archministry and comes into possession of a mysterious case that contains a devastating weapon targeting hemophages. Ordered by her superior, Nerva, to destroy it without opening, Violet instead defies orders, revealing the shocking truth: inside lies a ten-year-old boy named Six. He is not just any boy; he is a clone and holds the potential to wipe out the entire hemophage population.

Raised in a lab, Six knows little of the outside world, and time is not on his side—he only has eight hours to live. Following an urgent examination by her Hemophagic friend Garth, Violet discovers that Six is equipped with a tracking device, compelling her to keep moving to evade Daxus’s men. To make matters worse, Nerva has secretly struck a deal with Daxus, seeking to exploit Six’s unique abilities against the human race. In a daring act of rescue, Violet frees Six once more, determined to protect him.

Amidst their chaotic journey, Violet takes Six to a park for what may be their final moments together. Just as fate would have it, Daxus and his henchmen make an appearance, intent on claiming Six and eliminating Violet. However, fortune favors Violet when Garth manages to revive her after Daxus’s team leaves her for dead following a brutal attack. Once revived, Violet finds herself in a deep depression but is quickly motivated upon sensing that Six still lives.

With renewed determination, she launches an assault on the Archministry as Daxus prepares to conduct a horrific operation on Six. Violet confronts Daxus, unveiling a shocking revelation: he too is a hemophage. In a fierce battle, Violet triumphs using a flame pistol and her sword, defeating Daxus.

In the epilogue, Violet carries Six to the rooftop, reawakening him. Surprise washes over Six as he realizes he is still alive, thanks to a protective tear from Violet that safeguarded him from death. He shares with her the hopeful news that a cure for hemophagia exists.
