Kate stopped the El Reno tornado by commandeering Tyler's truck and driving it directly into the tornado's core while deploying the sodium polyacrylate solution. This was an improvised, dangerous maneuver that required getting close enough to disperse the solution into the vortex's center. With Lily's drone guidance helping her avoid capture by the tempest, Kate successfully stabilized the raging tornado, preventing further destruction.

Foreshadowing: Earlier attempts with the sodium solution had failed because the team deployed it from too far away or the tornado shifted unexpectedly.
