Ippolit Matwejewitch Worobjaninow, a former noble turned small‑town magistrate overseeing civil marriages, embarks on the search for a treasure hidden in twelve scattered chairs. He is not alone: flamboyant conman Ostap Bender and Father Fjodor, a priest who knows the secret, join the chase. Their frantic pursuit carries them across Russia, from rural villages to bustling cities, in a wild, comedic race for the loot.
