Troll 2

Tobias Tidemann begins by recounting a time when humans and trolls lived in harmony. He explains that Olaf wiped out most trolls by forcing them into sunlight and imprisoned the Troll King and his offspring underground. The framing sets Nora up for the events that follow.

Thirty years after the tale, Nora lives alone in a remote cabin, three years after her encounter with the Troll King. She has left her previous job studying trolls for the Norwegian government. The quiet life is shattered when a visitor arrives with a new crisis.

Andreas Isaksen visits Nora to ask for her help with a new discovery related to trolls. He explains that his team needs her expertise to understand what they have found. Nora agrees to join the expedition despite her earlier retirement.

At Vemork, they enter a top-secret underground facility housing the hibernating troll Jotun and Olaf's ancient documents. Nora reunites with professors Møller and Wangel who are involved in the Troll project. Their reunion is interrupted when Jotun awakens.

Jotun breaks free, killing Wangel and escaping from the facility. Møller escapes with a sample from Jotun, securing a potential study or weapon against him.

Major Kristoffer Holm and Norway's Prime Minister Brichmann order Jotun to be killed. Nora, Andreas, and Marion argue against it, and Kris agrees to take them on to carry out the operation with two UV-lit helicopters.

Jotun attacks a ski resort, killing civilians and damaging one helicopter. Kris's forces arrive, and although the UV lights prove effective, Jotun manages to escape after destroying one helicopter and killing Amir.

The team returns to the Dovre mountain cave to find the pit used to trap the Troll King. Nora lures out the newly grown Troll King offspring, nicknamed him 'Beautiful' after using the same song that awakened Jotun. They hope to have Beautiful communicate with Jotun to prevent further conflict.

Jotun and Beautiful meet, but Jotun attacks Beautiful, causing him to fall into a deep fjord. The team flees while Nora reveals she had previously found Beautiful and communicated with him.

Marion deduces Jotun is following an ancient pilgrimage route to Trondheim. They discover Olaf's tomb in Nidaros Cathedral and a missing piece of an ancient document explaining Olaf's sanctuary for trolls. Nora realizes that holy water can be used against trolls and they recruit Trondheim citizens to help trap Jotun.

Jotun enters Trondheim and breaks through cathedral defenses despite holy-water weapons. Beautiful arrives and challenges Jotun, triggering a clash between the two trolls. Nora and Marion distract Jotun with holy-water rockets as Andreas sacrifices himself by diving into Jotun's mouth with the last holy-water bomb.

Beautiful defeats Jotun by punching through his torso and ripping out his heart, ending the threat. The team mourns the loss but secures a fragile peace and a new future for the trolls.

Nora, Kris, and Marion live with Andreas's wife Sigrid and infant daughter Uhura in a new sanctuary established for Beautiful. The community has found a safe haven for trolls and humans to coexist.

In a mid-credits scene, Møller is secretly studying a baby troll grown from one of Jotun's genetic samples. The research hints at a new chapter in troll-human relations.
