Troll 2 (2025) – Ending Explained & Final Scene Breakdown

Still thinking about how Troll 2 (2025) ended? Here’s a full breakdown of the ending, key final moments, major twists, and the deeper meaning behind the film’s conclusion.

The final act finds Nora, Andreas, professor Auryn and Major Kris racing to Trondheim, the city where Saint Olaf’s ancient decree was hidden. Inside the Nidaros Cathedral they uncover the true wording of that decree: instead of a command to exterminate the Jotuns, Olaf had once demanded a sanctuary for them, a truth the Church had deliberately erased. The revelation confirms why the awakened Megatroll is marching on Trondheim—he is exacting revenge for centuries of betrayal, not merely following a forgotten royal edict.

Armed with this knowledge, the team attempts two desperate strategies. First they try to use Beautiful, the troll‑king’s son, as a diplomatic bridge, but Megatroll drags him to the depths of Boverdalen Lake, ending that plan. Their second, more brutal tactic relies on holy water—an element historically fused with silver to wound Jotuns. With no time to forge new weapons, the Norwegian army loads missiles, grenades and explosive barrels with holy‑water‑soaked charges and fires them at the colossal creature as it crushes through the streets. The blasts scorch Megatroll’s stone‑like skin, but the wounds quickly seal, showing that the holy‑water assault alone cannot stop him.

Facing imminent destruction, the remaining heroes improvise a final, sacrificial strike. Andreas and Kris launch a helicopter carrying a massive keg of holy water toward Megatroll’s open maw. After a chaotic chase, Kris loses the detonator, leaving Andreas as the only one able to complete the mission. He dives into the beast’s throat, hurls the keg inside and triggers the explosion. The holy water corrodes the creature from within, and as Megatroll collapses, Beautiful arrives for the climactic “money shot,” tearing out the monster’s heart. Both Megatroll and Andreas perish, their deaths sealing the immediate threat.

In the aftermath the cathedral is being rebuilt, and the surviving group—Nora, Beautiful, Auryn, Kris, Sigrid and their newborn daughter—gathers in the quiet of Steinbudalen. The city, though scarred, begins to heal.

The mid‑credits scene hints that the story is far from over. Professor Moller, working in a secret laboratory, has cultured a fragment of Megatroll’s flesh into a new, controllable Jotun. His conversation with a foreign military official suggests the terrifying possibility that these engineered trolls could become weapons for other nations, foreshadowing a darker turn for the franchise.
