Treasure Island

Captain Bones, an elderly pirate, arrives at the Admiral Benbow inn and takes lodgings with Jim Hawkins and his widowed mother. He keeps watch for a one-legged man and becomes a dangerous nuisance to the inn's guests.

The pirate Black Dog appears and duels Bones, retreating after a sword fight. Bones begins to suffer a cardiac arrest, and before Jim can help him, Blind Pew arrives, gives Bones the Black Spot, and leaves. Bones dies after handing Jim the key to his chest.

Mrs. Hawkins and Jim search Bones's chest for rent and papers. Jim takes a packet of papers while Pew and Black Dog return with more pirates. Dr. Livesey and his men arrive and scatter the attackers, killing Pew. Livesey and Jim take the papers to Squire Trelawney; one paper contains Captain Flint's map to a buried treasure.

Squire Trelawney procures the ship Hispaniola and hires Captain Smollett to command. With the help of the one-legged Long John Silver, they assemble a crew of sailors. Livesey and Jim come aboard as ship's doctor and cabin boy.

Jim overhears Silver, Israel Hands, and Dick Johnson plotting mutiny while hiding in an apple barrel. The overheard plan reveals the mutineers' intent before they even reach the island.

As land comes into view, Smollett, Trelawney, and Livesey quietly prepare a counter-move against the mutineers. Smollett tightens discipline and allows some crew to go ashore to reduce mutiny risk.

Jim sneaks ashore and witnesses two sailors murdered for resisting mutiny, and he meets Ben Gunn, who was marooned by Flint. Livesey and Hunter also sneak ashore and begin planning to base their resistance at Flint's old stockade.

Hands uses the cannon to sink the jolly boat during the pursuit, and Redruth is shot dead. Gunn guides Jim to the stockade and gives him a cryptic message to take to the Squire.

That night, Silver tries to parley for the treasure map but fails; pirates storm the stockade and wound Joyce and the Captain, but Livesey's party drives them off with heavy losses.

That night, Jim steals Gunn's coracle, sails to the Hispaniola, and cuts the anchor line. Hands, badly wounded after a fight on board, agrees to help beach the ship but later attempts to stab Jim; Jim shoots Hands to defend himself.

Jim returns to the stockade to find his friends gone and the mutineers in control. Silver is nearly deposed by Merry, who wants to kill Jim, but Silver reveals he bargained for the map with Livesey and the pirates decide to keep Jim alive as a hostage.

The pirates set off with the map to find Captain Flint's treasure, but they are frightened by a phantom voice and discover the treasure has already been looted. Livesey's party arrives to drive them off; the mutiny falters and Silver's grip weakens.

Livesey's party reaches Ben Gunn's cave and discovers that Gunn moved the treasure there months earlier. The group loads the Hispaniola and prepares to sail home with their prize.

Silver, unwilling to stand trial, steals a gig and sails off to freedom. The rest of the crew sails home with their treasure, and Jim vows never to return to the cursed island.
