Tensions rise near the border of British India as partition approaches and a new nation, Pakistan, is to be created. In a border town, Sikh villagers, hearing reports of Muslim attacks on Sikhs, Hindus and Christians, plot to sabotage a crowded train packed with Muslim refugees. They plan to bring down the bridge as the overloaded train crosses, seeking to halt the migration.
