Torture Room

Jahan Sufi endures brutal torture as spikes are hammered into his arms during interrogation. Under extreme pain, he blurts out the name Anoush Karagozian, revealing a target for the operation. The scene establishes the ruthless methods used to extract information.

Anoush, a cocktail waitress in Los Angeles, is abducted by government operatives. She is interrogated about individuals described as enemies of the state. The interrogators pressure her for names and connections to the so-called ragheads.

Anoush is forced to sign a contract pledging to serve US government interests. She is sedated and transported to a black site overseen by a man known only as Mr. Green. The transition marks her move from interrogation to imprisonment.

Within the site, Anoush and other detainees endure a battery of tortures, including incessant noise and the forced ingestion of raw meat and toilet water. The environment is designed to strip away identity and resistance through sensory and physical assault.

The detainees are subjected to psychical manipulation and a mock execution while drugged. They are also forced to watch graphically violent footage, heightening fear and confusion as the mind destabilizes.

One of Anoush's nipples is sliced off as part of the brutal interrogation. The injury is used to break her body and psyche, signaling the depth of the abuse she endures.

A staged rescue is performed, but Anoush's release is a ruse. She is sealed in a box and left to wallow in her own excrement while connected to an IV, a procedure intended to further degrade her.

Mr. Green presses Anoush to kill Jahan Sufi, using coercion and manipulation. When she resists, he tries again later with a serial rapist, killer, and implied cannibal named Ron, increasing the threat and stakes.

Ron and Anoush are locked in a cell together and starved, escalating the danger. When Ron beats Anoush, she defends herself and ultimately strangles him with strips of her clothing, marking a violent turn in her struggle.

Mr. Green has Anoush eat dog food and uses fake documents to gaslight her into believing she is a U.S. intelligence agent named Sharon brainwashed by enemies. The manipulation is designed to erase her sense of self and loyalty.

As a final test, Mr. Green coerces Anoush into shooting her own mother. The cruel exercise tests her willingness to follow orders at the ultimate personal cost.

A pair of agents release Anoush and arrange for her to be hit by a car as a cover for all of her injuries. They leave her with a special cellphone to keep in touch with Mr. Green, tying her fate to his commands.

The film closes with Anoush huddled in a fetal position, mindlessly repeating random words. She calls Mr. Green to report that Shazad has plans to meet with friends visiting from Lebanon, signaling a continued chain of manipulation and control.
