Tortilla Flat

The mice celebrate Cinco de Mayo with their own carnival, emulating the human festivities. Speedy Gonzales entertains the crowd by playing ping-pong alone while various mice engage in light-hearted conversations about his popularity with the local sisters.

The carnival is suddenly interrupted as Señor Vulturo, a hungry bird, spots the festivities. He decides to swoop in for a meal of mouse burgers, creating panic among the mice who shout warnings about his appearance.

Noticing the chaos, Speedy Gonzales rushes to find out what is happening. He learns about Vulturo's arrival and reassures his friends that he will handle the situation, determined to protect the carnival.

As several mice point out Vulturo's first victim, Speedy leaps into action. He substitutes the captured mouse with a firecracker, leading to a mishap when Vulturo accidentally burns his foot.

Speedy playfully taunts Vulturo as he dodges the bird's attempts to squash him. He dances and sings while retreating into his mouse hole, further aggravating his foe and inciting a hilarious chase.

During their chase, Speedy reaches a railroad crossing. He tries to warn Vulturo about an oncoming train, but the bird fails to stop in time, resulting in a comedic collision that leaves Vulturo flustered.

Later, Speedy senses danger at a rocky outcropping when he discovers Vulturo aiming a cannon at him. Speedy cleverly switches positions, causing Vulturo to be blasted by the cannon instead, blowing off his beak.

Speedy leads Vulturo to a supposed mouse hole where a juicy meal awaits. However, the crafty mouse tricks Vulturo into believing that the hole is home to chickens, making fool of the hungry predator.

Vulturo devises a trap using a toy with nitroglycerin, intending to lure Speedy into a dangerous situation. Speedy, always one step ahead, pretends to fall for the trick.

In a twist of fate, Speedy drops the ball into Vulturo's trap, resulting in a large explosion. As the smoke clears, Vulturo is left featherless and defeated, finally surrendering.

With Vulturo surrendering, the carnival can continue merrily. Speedy takes on the role of presenter for a ball toss game, aiming to keep the spirit of celebration alive.

As part of the carnival entertainment, Vulturo becomes a reluctant target for darts, leading to comedic moments where he gets hit multiple times. His backside becomes a dartboard as he winces at each throw.
