Top Cat Begins

Top Cat lands in NYC with his crew and quickly realizes the metropolis runs on sharper schemes than street hustles. He defends a street musician's right to earn a living and hatches a plan to profit by guiding Benny's violin act. The plan aims to keep control of the profits while staying under the radar of authorities.

On the way to Mrs. B's for a meal, TC meets two orphans who just stole cakes. An encounter with Officer Dibble ensues, and the officer trusts TC's claim that the kids were with him. The orphans warn of Bad Dog planning to burn the orphanage if they can't raise money.

The duo finally reach Mrs. B's for a meal, only to be served a bland stew. Benny's appetite clashes with TC's caution, prompting TC to rethink the partnership. He realizes they must stay cool and choose smarter moves.

The next day, TC and Benny dive into a string of pranks across the city, drawing the attention of the police and turning up Dibble's interest. A botched attempt to pull off a trick inside a crowded apartment ends with the doorbell trap but TC and Benny slip away into the maze of the city.

They run into Bad Dog and his crew who threaten violence unless they quit their con games. TC crafts a plan to swap Bad Dog's valuable bags, leveraging Benny as the key to holding the loot. The night leads them toward the Starlight Club and the pressure to reveal diamonds from Mr. Big.

At the Starlight Club, Mr. Big pressures TC and Benny to reveal the location of hidden diamonds. Benny forgets the diamonds, and TC improvises to outsmart Bad Dog and secure an escape, though the danger remains high.

A wave of 'Wanted' posters spreads through the city as Mr. Big's goons close in. Dibble assigns Granny Dibble to track TC and Benny, and they travel to a distant train station where Granny forces them into grueling chores. A chaotic day with circus cats and a lion unfolds.

As circus cats clash with a fierce lion, TC seizes the chance to help, but the mission devolves into a demanding, joke-filled obstacle course. Granny's tough methods push them toward doing more work for their own survival. It becomes a detour from their rescue plan.

The pair reunite with the group and head back to New York, but a petty quarrel over a chocolate bar sparks tension. Benny ultimately departs and returns home in disappointment.

Learning his mother sold diamonds to Mr. Big's club, Benny infiltrates the Starlight Club disguised as a singer. His cover is blown, and he's chased through the venue; TC and Dibble rush to help but are overwhelmed by a mob, leading to Benny's capture.

Dibble arranges for TC to be sent away to Florida to avoid danger, but on the flight TC realizes what truly matters: friendship and loyalty exceed clever schemes. He resolves to return to New York.

TC returns to NYC and is joined by Choo-Choo, Brain and Fancy-Fancy, with Spook the pizza cat joining too. They form a team to storm the Starlight Club and rescue Benny.

A pizza-box trap triggers a distraction, and TC disguises himself as a shrewd businessman to rally the crowd against Mr. Big. The villain escapes by climbing a treetop, but TC and Benny sever the chain and foil the escape.

Mr. Big is handed over to justice as the city rejoices with Dibble and the gang at Hoagy's Alley. TC buries Mr. Big's diamonds, which ultimately fall into the hands of the two orphans, completing the circle of the film's heists and rescues. The group sings the original theme, affirming friendship and teamwork.
