Tom Horn

Tom Horn rides into a small frontier town at the turn of the twentieth century and crosses paths with prizefighter Jim Corbett. He is knocked unconscious and left bruised, ending up in a livery stable. This incident marks the beginning of his drift through a changing Western frontier.

Cattle rancher John Coble finds Horn recovering in the livery and offers him use of his ranch to recuperate. He also offers him work investigating and deterring rustlers, implying support from the cattle association. Horn agrees, seeking a purpose in the unsettled times.

At an association picnic, Coble signals that the ranch will back Horn’s efforts, and the informal approval of Marshal Joe Belle is hinted. Horn rebrands himself as a stock detective under Coble’s guidance. The moment cements a path toward vigilante justice.

Calling himself the stock detective, Horn confronts cowboys at an auction and issues fair warnings before taking decisive action. He begins a one man crusade to drive off or kill rustlers who threaten the cattle of his benefactors. His methods become brutal but effective.

Horn is coaxed from a saloon back to Marshal Belle’s office, where a newspaperman sits in the next room.
