Tsuda, a door-to-door insurance salesman, is overwhelmed by the pressure to support his fiancée Hizuru. He meets his former high school friend Kojima, whose raw intensity inspires him to take up boxing as an outlet for stress. The chance encounter plants the seed for a dangerous path ahead.

Kojima turns up at Tsuda's apartment and makes a move on Hizuru, who rejects him. Tsuda learns of the intrusion and confronts Kojima, who beats him badly in front of Hizuru. The humiliating scene marks a turning point in their volatile dynamic.
