Kai, portrayed by Iko Uwais, alongside Lu Xin Lee and Tommy Wah, embarks on a mission to Bangkok driven by the tragic murder of Tommy’s sister, Jenny. Upon discovering an ancient talisman on her body, Tommy tracks its origin to Thailand, leading the trio into the thick of a deadly plot. As a Wu Assassin, Kai is enveloped by the spirit of a 10,000-year-old warrior, granting him extraordinary powers, essential for their quest.
Upon their arrival, they swiftly find themselves under attack from two terrifying Jiangshi—vampiric creatures from Chinese folklore. Battling their way through this initial onslaught, they encounter William Pan, a biotech billionaire, who implores them to help retrieve his twin sister, Ku An Qi—an underworld boss and powerful Jiangshi. Ku has been using Chi, a vital life force, to amplify her supernatural abilities with the ambition of overwhelming the world.
A devastating truth unfolds: Ku sought Kai to eliminate him, but Jenny bravely intervened during the confrontation, resulting in her untimely demise. William reveals that both he and Ku are descendants of Pangu, a primordial entity who once shaped the universe but was ultimately vanquished by the original Wu Assassin due to his descent into madness. The essence of Pangu is divided between two talismans, one held by William and the other once belonging to Ku, which can be used to counter her power.
They learn from William that Ku is scheduled to meet with five formidable Triad leaders in five days, where she intends to gather more Chi. With the help of Preeya, Tommy’s friend, they devise a daring plan to abduct Ku during the meeting at the Vie Hotel. While Preeya and Tommy create a diversion, Kai and Lu Xin slip past security, aided by a strategically deployed jammer that obscures hotel cameras.
However, chaos erupts when Ku arrives and seizes Chi from the Triad bosses. As the villainess enacts her mind control powers, the building erupts into a frenzy with everyone attacking our heroes. Caught in the fray, Kai faces Zan, his old enemy who now serves Ku. In the heat of battle, they find an unexpected ally in Zama Zulu, an Interpol agent, who also holds a personal connection to Lu Xin.
Fleeing the hotel in Zama’s van, they navigate a wild chase through the city streets, ultimately seeking refuge in Preeya’s village. There, the village shaman uncovers a shocking betrayal: William is conspiring with Ku to resurrect Pangu and reshape the universe in their own vision. They require both talismans and Kai’s unique Chi to succeed.
As tensions rise, Preeya, driven by a personal tragedy from her past, is manipulated by William and Ku into stealing Tommy’s talisman, which she uses to absorb Kai’s Chi. Their stronghold is ambushed by Ku’s forces, prompting a desperate escape led by Kai, Lu Xin, Tommy, and Zama, though the shaman ultimately sacrifices himself in a last-ditch effort to help.
The final showdown takes place at a historic archaeological site where the original Wu Assassin faced Pangu. In a twist, Preeya’s change of heart aids Tommy and Zama in battling Ku while Kai confronts and defeats Zan. Yet, with Kai’s Chi empowering William, Pangu is reborn and turns Lu Xin against Kai. Through sheer determination, Kai rescues Lu Xin from Pangu’s control, leading to their ultimate victory over the ancient evil.
Celebrations of their hard-fought triumph take the form of a relaxing beach day, though Kai remains unsettled, hinting at the daunting challenge of facing a necromancer in the future.

Still wondering what the ending of Fistful of Vengeance (2022) really means? Here’s a spoiler-heavy breakdown of the final scene, major twists, and the deeper themes that shape the film’s conclusion.
Kai manages to defeat Pan Gu, the mad god who was threatening to reshape the world in his own image, in a final fierce battle at the archaeological site where Pan Gu was originally created from the split of the first Wu Assassin. Despite losing much of his power, Pan Gu is ultimately killed when Kai’s team manages to destroy him. As the dust settles, Pan Gu is cast back into hell or the underworld, preventing him from threatening the world again. However, the talisman that contains part of Pan Gu’s essence remains around William Pan’s neck, suggesting that there is a possibility of Pan Gu’s return in the future. The film hints that Kai’s next challenge might involve confronting a necromancer or a more powerful Jiangshi—creatures linked to dark magic and the undead.
Throughout the film, a recurring element is the connection between the talisman, Pan Gu, and Jiangshis, implying that these mystical forces and creatures are interconnected. The ending leaves this open for future stories, teasing that new threats rooted in necromancy or dark magic may be on the horizon for Kai. Although the movie struggles with delivering compelling action and storytelling, it clearly establishes that the fight against dark supernatural forces is far from over, setting up potential new adventures for the Wu Assassin.
