Joseph Kuruvilla runs a bakery and leads a quiet, non-violent life with his five-year-old daughter Nivi. He remains low-profile while keeping a close circle in the town of Alappuzha, Kerala. He also befriends Nivi's teacher Annie, who begins to develop a crush on him.

Some goons attempt to kill Nivi, and Joseph steps in to defend his daughter. He ends up in a tense scuffle while protecting her, showing his protective instincts. The confrontation foreshadows that his ordinary life hides a dangerous past.

During their time together in Alappuzha, Annie learns that Joseph is actually the feared DCP Vijay Kumar. The revelation shifts their relationship and sets the stage for his hidden past to surface. Joseph then begins narrating his past to Annie.

In Chennai, Vijay investigates the missing IT worker Raji and uncovers a death connected to Ashwin, the son of Minister Vanamaamalai. He tracks Ashwin to Vanamaamalai's house, where others claim Ashwin has been missing for days. Vijay confronts and kills Ashwin after a tense chase, deepening the minister's anger. Vanamaamalai and Commissioner Sibi Chakravarthy vow vengeance against Vijay.

Vijay meets Mithra, a medical student, and the two fall in love. He introduces her to his future in-law family, while Ratnam sends goons to threaten them. Despite the danger, Vijay convinces Mithra to stay with him, and they marry, welcoming their newborn daughter Nivi.

On Deepavali night, Vanamaamalai, Ratnam, and Inspector Karikalan invade Vijay's home with henchmen. They kill Vijay's mother Pappu and Mithra, and attempt to drown Nivi. Mithra dies saving Nivi and helps Vijay vow to quit the police. He then escapes and fakes his death to protect Nivi.

After Mithra's death, Vijay escapes and fakes his own death to protect Nivi from Vanamaamalai's vengeance. He cuts ties with his past to keep her safe.

Years later, Nivi goes on a school excursion and Vanamaamalai orchestrates a bus accident to reach them. Vijay, aided by Annie and local people, rescues Nivi and the other children from the wreck. The rescue confirms that Vijay is still alive and active.

Vijay travels to Chennai to confront Karikalan and kills him, hanging his body from a station fan. A constable named Ganesan witnesses the killing and spreads the rumor that Vijay has reappeared as a ghost. The public grows more mystified by the ongoing killings.

Vanamaamalai tries to warn Ratnam about the truth, but Ratnam refuses the warning and suspects Vanamaamalai of orchestrating Karikalan's death. The brothers' estrangement widens, with Ratnam severing ties from Vijay's cause. The city remains unaware of the deeper conspiracy.

One night, Vijay confronts Ratnam at an under-construction building and kicks him to his death. The act demonstrates Vijay's ruthless pursuit of revenge and his willingness to cross lines. The brutality cements his transformation from protector to avenger.

Vijay surrenders temporarily to Vanamaamalai's henchmen, then defeats them and hangs Vanamaamalai's body. The public remains puzzled by the string of killings, while Sibi Chakravarthy secretly knows Vijay is alive and re-employs him in the police force. The mystery of Vijay's survival fuels the legend around him.

A few years later, Vijay, now older and living with Nivi and Annie in Ladakh, uses the alias Dharmeshwar. He quietly assists the CBI in solving cases, continuing his vigilant life under a new identity. His past continues to influence the present as he balances family life with his undercover work.

Nivi grows up under her father's protection, with Annie by her side as a steady presence. The story hints at a fragile peace maintained by vigilance, where love persists alongside the hidden dangers of Vijay's double life.
